In a league filled with race-baiters, cowards, and China apologists, he stands out as an extraordinarily brave spokesman for liberty around the world.
Enes Kanter, a 6’11” tall Turkish-born Muslim, is a really good basketball player. He’s so good that he’s played with some of the best teams in the NBA and is currently on the Boston Celtics. But more than being a fine basketball player, he’s a truly good man, who bravely speaks up for oppressed people everywhere. And on Monday, he became an American citizen and took a new name to celebrate: He’s now Enes Kanter Freedom.
My interest in basketball has always been very, very low, and it dipped even further when the NBA bowed before the racist, Marxist Black Lives Matter movement. It dipped further still when I realized that the league was willing to grovel before China’s dictatorial communist party to benefit from the profits to be made from China’s vast market. Having the whiny, vicious LeBron James become the face of the NBA didn’t help.
However, a few weeks ago, I became aware that a guy named Enes Kanter was wearing sneakers and shirts attacking China’s despotic, and possibly genocidal, incarceration of the Uighur people (along with attacking Nike and others supporting the regime):
Even as I admired his bravery, I cynically thought to myself, “Well, sure, he’s a Muslim, so he’s going to say that...but where does he stand on Israel, the only liberal democracy in the Middle East?” Well, I’m deeply ashamed of myself for that cynicism because Kanter is truly dedicated to liberty. The Jerusalem Post published an article talking about what a mensch Kanter is whenever people are oppressed:

While I don’t watch the NBA, I have seen news stories.
His Celtic teammates and fans are always preening about their political wokeness, but apparently they are ignorant, hypocritical cowards:
“Although many of his teammates may not agree or understand his stances, they do respect his opinions.”
Saw him on Tucker last night....
...genuinely appreciative of America
Lovely man!
Finally, an NBA player I can look up to.
Hopefully he maintains his integrity and doesn’t pull a Drew Brees.
This Turk is more American at heart than all the American-born NBAers. Although I doubt LeBron is paying attention.
Saw that.
Mr. Freedom’s courage is more impressive than his athletic skill, and I am so glad Tucker gave him a platform to announce he is truly proud to be an American!
I had to admit, I always kind of liked Drew Brees, even though that whole fiasco with his investing in diamonds made him look a bit dim-witted.
But when he cravenly caved on his absolutely reasonable remarks on respecting the flag...I lost every ounce of consideration I may have had for him.
Exes played here in OKC for a few years. Everyone in town loved the guy. He was very involved in the community and he was the same guy you see now. He was very well respected and he respected everyone else. He was preaching the same sermon then as now. He is one of the few good guys in professional sports. God Bless him.
If the NBA is BLM why don’t Chinese Lives Matter?
Many of the athletes born in foreign countries realize how great the USA is because they were born into oppression in other countries. They realize the opportunities that Americans have IF they want to work hard. Many people that are born here do not understand how good they have it.
We talk about the MSM on this site all the time. Yet, we actually do have people telling the truth every day. It just may not be found on ABC, etc. The difference is in places like Turkey, where he grew up, they may only have one or two sources of information.
