ORANGE CITY — A pregnant librarian was killed in a road rage incident after she instigated a fight with a motorcyclist, police said.
Orange City police said 35-year-old Sara Morales was shot outside her home following an argument with another motorist. Police said Morales intentionally hit the motorcycle Saturday and then fled the scene. Authorities said the motorcyclist and a witness followed her, trying to get her to stop.
The motorcyclist told police they called police while following the librarian back to her home.
According to police, Morales went inside, returned with a gun and a confrontation occurred in the road. The motorcyclist allegedly shot Morales multiple times. The pregnant woman and mother of an 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
Police said the motorcyclist has a concealed weapons permit, remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.
The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
Cops and others have been shot, some multiple times, and were able to return fire. Happens all the time
Hope you realize I was quitting a prior post.
What a bush league comment. Not surprising I suppose.
Guess the unborn child had 'it coming, correct?
Pathetic.
I thought it said “Libertarian”.. o.o
but they can beat up all the guys in the movies!
‘Banglist’ (((ping))).
Heck, I don’t know.
I don’t claim to know how I would react if a woman 7-8 months pregnant pointed a gun at me, knowing how crazy women can be, their body completely inundated with hormones...they aren’t “normal” sometimes.
I don’t even know for certain how I would react if someone pointed a gun at me, regardless of anything else. I would hope I would be able to act decisively, but...it has been my experience that how people react in their initial experience, as in combat, is highly variable. I don’t know if I would be able to draw, aim, and pull the trigger, or if I would freeze, or...if I am one of those people who couldn’t do it.
I just don’t know, and I would be full of bravado I could declare that I would be able to function. I think I could, but...I just don’t know.
I admit, if I were looking at her with her big belly sticking out, my first reaction would not to draw and shoot, my first reaction would be to show my hands and then say “Hang on. Let’s talk about this, lady. You have a baby to think of...” (or something like that)
I would have likely tried to deescalate. And I fully grant, for the purposes of self preservation, I would likely be toast. If that makes me weak, well, I guess I would be dead and weak.
I suspect, even if I didn’t draw and was shot dead, I would be the villain no matter what anyway. Heck, this guy may be a villain no matter what.
He isn’t a villain in my eyes, but it is clear to me he is being set up for that. Hell, he is going to have to live with it. And that isn’t easy for anyone.
She is the one at fault here, but she will get a pass, no doubt. I just hope he is able to come to grips with it.
“She is the one at fault here, but she will get a pass, no doubt.”
She’s kinda dead. I’m not sure what kind of pass she could get.
I won’t say that.
Women who are pregnant can react in strange ways to things, protective ways that can be unpredictable and in this case, fatally dangerous, and I won’t judge her wholly on that at this time other than to say if she pointed a gun at the guy, the discussion is moot and she paid the price.
The “pass” in question is a pass in public opinion...which we hope won’t be a bad thing beyond defamation for the guy who had to shoot her to protect himself.
Oh good I have successfully trolled. I have situations in my daily life where I could be a hothead and flip people off and yell at them being completely in the right. I choose not to engage in that sort of behavior. I may curse and mutter aloud but I try to avoid making gestures and being seen yelling. I am the more passive aggressive type. I was bullied a lot as a child and learned to avoid making people angry because I didn’t want to get my teeth knocked out. Seriously I didn’t want to get my teeth knocked out so I managed to get to 64 years of age without ever exchanging blows with anyone and I haven’t had any teeth knocked out.
I have never been in a fight. I am an expert at avoiding confrontation. I could have really messed up the guy who picked my pocket but he got my wallet and got away and I didn’t harm him and he didn’t harm me and besides I don’t put cash in my wallet.
I just think the guy on the motorcycle could have been a little more circumspect but knowing he was armed he might have felt more confident about his physical safety. Confidence leads to bad decisions. A little bit of humility and self-doubt can go a long way. Obviously he was still able to ride the motorcycle so all he really needed was a license plate number. Good Lord!
And say what you will, you know I am right.
I think you always drive with blind spots, maybe post too, I reckun.
Accidents happen.. you gonna shoot all of them.
She panicked, ran and unfortunately paid the price becuz he was hurt enough to pursue and not let legal authorities handle things,, but NOooOOooo..
Someone lost their cool. Don’t join the crowd.
jmho
Annnnnnd.....Here’s your prize....
I decided to read the news report article. She was driving a little tiny Kia! The motorcyclist was not seriously injured. He abused his right to conceal and carry. Sure she was wrong but he was using gasoline to try to put out a fire. I don’t know if he was actually trying to de-escalate the situation but he did a terrible job. He killed 2 people. The unborn child was caught in the crossfire so to speak.
This is where Jesus would have said to him turn the other cheek. Forgive those who trespass against us. The loss of any higher power in our lives is what leads to events like this.
Unfortunately, there is something to that post of yours which is pooh-poohed as being irrelevant, but it isn't.
The average woman without training is no physical match for an average man without training. There are always individual women with training and conditioning, but...if you put them in a contest with a male who has equal training and commensurate conditioning, again, it will be no match.
And at the top of the physical pyramid, NFL stars, Special Forces in the Military, there are no women anywhere who can physically match up with them. The top 25% of the physical pyramid is inhabited by men.
The danger inherent in this is two-fold: First, is that this irrational Hollywood image of women being a match for men in every physical endeavor is imbued in young females, who, instead of conducting their activities appropriately think they can put themselves in situations they can physically fight their way out of. I am less careful about when and where I walk somewhere (whether carrying or not) than my wife is. She won't walk alone in various areas at various times of the day, and rather than brand her as weak or afraid, I see her as intelligent, realistic, and prepared. She is absolutely correct to have this mindset. But females are being encouraged to disregard this fundamental mindset. I view that disregard as being akin to stepping out into a crosswalk and thinking any vehicle is going to stop because you have "the right of way. It is foolhardy in both cases.
The second danger is that policymakers invest their policies in the fantasies they see from Hollywood. I believe this is destroying our military. It isn't going to end well.
he should have never went to her home...he could have stayed a few hundred feet away....he had already called the cops....
if strange men drove up to my house, I'd retrieve a gun too.....
In my concealed handgun class, the instructor taught us that because we are carrying a gun we should try to avoid situations which could cause us to use them. He used examples like arguing over a parking space, arguing over the availability of a gas pump, road rage in general, etc. We carry a gun for protection, but we should seek to avoid confrontations if possible because they could turn deadly.
Go away, Snowflake. Idiots like you are the biggest and worst threat to this nation.
The law doesn’t give two sh!ts about your personal feelings, opinions oriases. The motorcyclist did not violate any laws, rather it was the dead, pregnant, psycho b!tch that violated several laws, including attempted vehicular manslaughter / murder.
Facts and the law outweigh your selfish and idiotic emotions and feelings. You are unqualified and too stupid to sit on a jury.
oriases = or biases
I have no idea what any of that means, but thanks Norm.
