Age, Underlying Conditions, The Top Factors in Breakthrough Coronavirus Cases

A Wall Street Journal analysis found that among fully vaccinated people, the ones most likely to be hospitalized with breakthrough infections of COVID-19 are the elderly and those with specific underlying medical conditions.

“In particular, people with diabetes, chronic lung disease, kidney disease and compromised immune systems were at risk of serious outcomes from breakthrough cases,” The Journal reported.

Overall, fully vaccinated people accounted for 1.89 million breakthrough cases, 72,000 hospitalizations, and 20,000 deaths in the United States this year, The Journal said.

While unvaccinated people account for most of the COVID-19 hospitalizations, health officials have noted that a growing number of fully vaccinated people who haven’t gotten a booster shot are being hospitalized with breakthrough cases.

The Journal analysis gets specific about which groups are most vulnerable.

Because the CDC doesn’t publish a raw tally of breakthrough cases, Journal reporters examined medical data of 21 million fully vaccinated people and state reports to reach its conclusions, often using data from private firms.

For instance, fully vaccinated people with diabetes, chronic lung disease, and chronic kidney disease were about twice as likely to be hospitalized with breakthrough COVID as vaccinated people without these conditions, The Journal said, citing a data aggregation firm, Truveta Inc., that accessed medical records of 1.7 million fully vaccinated people.

Not all breakthrough cases result in hospitalization, but some conditions make it more likely.

Among breakthrough patients with chronic kidney disease, a quarter of them were hospitalized, Truveta said. In comparison, among fully vaccinated people without underlying conditions, only 7.5% of breakthrough cases resulted in hospitalization, The Journal said.

The elderly are especially vulnerable to breakthrough cases because old age weakens a person’s immune system.

About 80% of deaths in breakthrough cases are in people 65 and older, The Journal reported, citing data from the Epic Health Research Network. Epic analyzed data from the medical-record software company Epic Systems Corp.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines a breakthrough case as occurring when a person tests positive at least two weeks after becoming fully vaccinated.

There are several threads at this very moment on FR quoting government numbers that show that this story is either out of date, based on months old information, or is an outright misrepresentation.

Based on what we have learned about threats from the CDC. the government health services, the American Medical Association, big pharma, etc., my bet is on intentional misinformation...

Or as they say, follow the money.

Can't have a 'breakthrough' without the vax. What is it, chopped liver?

Yet people with compromised immune systems are told to get the jab first.

Compromised immune systems are a feature of the vax, not a bug…

The “breakthroughs” are the intent.

The most common reason for breakthrough cases is being vaccinated,,,

“A Wall Street Journal analysis found that among fully vaccinated people, the ones most likely to be hospitalized with breakthrough infections of COVID-19 are the elderly and those with specific underlying medical conditions.“

Gosh that sounds exactly like the unvaccinated people who are the most likely to have problems with COVID-19. In other words it appears that the experimental “vaccines” do little if anything to change the outcome of the variants currently making the rounds.

Ok. Here goes- I am fully vaccinated, I am 67, I already have mild COPD and a compromised immune system due to the immunosuppressant drugs I am taking because of my liver transplant surgery back in May- and I am doing JUST FINE, DO YOU HEAR THAT, WALL STREET JOURNAL?
I can’t, and won’t speak for anyone else- am I just lucky, or is the WSJ giving us a steaming hot pile?

In other words, breakthrough cases of the vaccinated look a whole lot like non-breakthrough cases of the un-vaccinated.

Those vaccines are making a huge difference! Let’s go Brandon.

I’ll agree that covid is dangerous if the vax nazis agree that the vax is just as dangerous.

In the U.S. more than one million people are living with HIV in the United States; one in seven are unaware of their status. The Delta Variant has lots of vaccinated wood to burn.

I am 81 and am not vaccinated. I have heart disease, compromised kidneys, diabetes and am morbidly obese. I am active, otherwise healthy, and absolutely clear that the vaxx will kill me.

Again, the ignored elephant in the room as the main reason for the vast number of Covid-assigned deaths, which is that of the overall poor health condition of Americans. “For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 4.0 additional conditions or causes per death. (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm#Comorbidities) Primarily those related to obesity, a preventable condition, and 42% of American are obese and 73% are overweight.

Thus when this is the overall status of Americans andit is a primary factor relative to serious and fatal COVID-19 infections,[235] then we should expect far more deaths from this or any such new virus than if obesity itself was not pandemic. Research shows that people with obesity were more than twice as likely to end up in the hospital and nearly 50 percent more likely to die of COVID-19.[236] Another study finds that more than 77 percent of 17,000 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the United States had excess weight or obesity.[237]

A more recent study found that 88 percent of deaths due to COVID-19 in the first year of the pandemic were in countries where more than half of the population is classified as overweight. In countries where more than 50% of the population was overweight, the COVID-19 death rate was more than 100 per 100,000. “Conversely, in countries where less than half of the adult population is classified as overweight, the risk of death from COVID-19 was about one-tenth of the levels in countries with higher shares of overweight adults.”[238] [239]Also, “two new, large studies from England and Mexico further detail obesity as being a risk factor for poor COVID-19–related outcomes, including death, with a UK study showing the highest hospitalization rate being among young adults.” [240] [241]

And obesity is estimated to be responsible for 4.7 million deaths worldwide[242] and 18% of all deaths in the USA (the latter stat was from way back in 2013[243] ).

RE: No jab, no breakthrough.

An infection is an infection regardless of whether one gets the jab or not.

I think the expectation was ON AVERAGE, infections from the jabbed will be less severe than those who don’t get them. That’s all.

There’s also the expectation that OVERALL, the jabbed will be less likely to be infected than the unjabbed. I’m not sure if this is true anymore.

Yes it will kill you Louis.

To a lesser extent so may Covid. They both carry the spike protein toxin. The virus and the vaxx are just different delivery methods.
