Cookbook author Jake Cohen says it’s terrifying to be an “outward-facing, proud Jew in America” right now.
The up-and-coming foodie, who boasts over 600,000 Instagram followers, revealed that he’s been on the receiving end of some unpleasant glares as he travelled around the country promoting his cookbook, “Jew-ish: A Cookbook: Reinvented Recipes from a Modern Mensch.”
“You go to places and people’s eyes go straight to my Star of David,” the 27-year-old told Page Six recently. “It’s uncomfortable. I’ve been very lucky to not have a real instance of true harm. I think part of that is due to the fact that I’m a 6-foot-4 male Jew and that definitely works in my favor.”

LOL. No one I know spends two seconds a week thinking anything at all about Jews. I suspect, like ‘institutional racism’, the anti-semitism exists nowhere but inside her own head.
“You go to places and people’s eyes go straight to my Star of David,”
That was it’s purpose in the olden days. Such items were there to catch the eye as it then absorbed the first “blast” of the evil eye. the next glance at you would not have near the evil intent as the first glance was absorbed.
THE EVIL EYE by Elworthy says it all.
The new Jew...the unvaccinated
Good. Effing leave. Just about had it with the double standards from Jews.
Dick Morris might have something to say in that direction, too.
I’m not Jewish, but I think Israel’s very existence makes them feel guilty because it reminds them of what they turned their backs on and what they are rejecting. the religion, the customs, the traditions, their family upbringing.
Israel’s existence makes WHO feel guilty?
If you mean the Jews, they happen to have their OWN religion, customs, traditions, upbringing.
Jeez.
I’m talking about the cultural Jews, the atheist Jews, the liberal Jews, not the believers. Sheesh!
Reminds me of one of my sisters in law. I married into a large Hispanic family in El Paso. When she moved up to North Texas, she spoke of "unpleasant stares" whenever she was at the mall. My wife and her sisters told her she was being too sensitive.
A few years later, she married a white guy from New Braunfels, who had a German last name. LOL, the "unpleasant stares" vanished.
Well, perhaps you should express yourself in a better way.
I suspect that groups like BDS and their ilk are majorly composed of people who aren’t even Jews at all.
I’ve never personally met a Jew who was embarrassed by Israel, whether the Jew was a cultural, liberal, or ‘atheist’ one.
(But maybe I’ve just known the ‘good’ ones.)
Maybe you should have....nevermind. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
WHAT A DOOFUS!!
I’m a Catholic, and I can bet that I’ve had a TON more nasty remarks about my religion but I take that as a BADGE of HONOR!
“Because they believe in the Abrahamic covenant and that God will bless those who bless you.”
These are GOOD people - willing and even eager to live in peace with their fellow human beings, even if those other people have somewhat different beliefs than they do. It is, I believe, the ideal that God set up for us, which ideal has been largely ignored and/or corrupted over time by us fallible human beings.
” Who, outside of Democrats, has problems with Jews?”
I’d say Democrats (esp BLM, ANTIFA) are 99% of the problem.
We have a few here on FR, including one last night bemoaning that Trump’s daughter married a Jew (and — gasp — converted). But, I agree, the trailer-park white racist types are few-and-far between.
Lol. That is the first role I remember for John Candy. What a great movie.
GMAFB. “Glares”? I could tell you some stories, but they’re boring. So I won’t. Get off the pity pot and man up. You have years to be really terrified in.
Wow! I thought you were dead.
I know, I’m not the first.
