Maori tribe tells anti-vaxxers to stop using haka

The Maori tribe that owns rights to the "Ka Mate" haka told anti-vaccine protesters Monday to stop performing the famous ritual at demonstrations.

The Ngati Toa -- a tribe or iwi in Maori -- is recognised under New Zealand law as the cultural guardian of the Ka Mate haka, which has featured prominently at recent protests against coronavirus-related restrictions.

"Ngati Toa condemns the use of the Ka Mate haka to push and promote anti-Covid-19-vaccination messages," the tribe, based just outside Wellington, said in a statement.

"We insist that protesters stop using our taonga (cultural treasure) immediately."...

...Ngati Toa chief executive Helmut Modlik criticised anti-vaccine protesters for putting individual wishes ahead of the greater good.

"Many of our tupuna (ancestors) lost their lives in previous pandemics and our iwi suffered greatly," he said.

"We are absolutely clear that the Covid-19 vaccine is the best protection we have available to us, and we are committed to supporting our whanau (family) to get vaccinated as soon as possible."

I guess this pertains more to New Zealand and Australia? Haven't seen any Maori dances in SoCal. Just antifa who can't dance at all.

The paid off politically anointed Maori leaders are actually getting resistance from within.
New Zealand has turned into an embarrassment and a new authoritarian government.

Actual Maori are performing it at protests. It’s a war cry, so guess you’ll have to fight them to stop them.

The best example of a haka is performed by New Zealand’s rugby team, the All-Blacks. The link shows them doing one before a 2004 game against England’s team. But you don’t have to go to a rugby game to see a haka. Once I saw a YouTube video of a haka performed at a wedding. And in 2013, when BeyoncĂ© Knowles did a concert in Auckland and was greeted with a haka, the R&B singer joined in!

The haka involves a lot of facial expressions and body movements - sticking out tongues, mean wide-eyed looks, etc. Here’s a fun example - Dreamtime indigenous used paint and rhythmic stomping as an added intimidator vs Maori’s use of tatoos and body slapping (you can skip the first 30 seconds):

The best example of a Haka isn’t from a sports team or a wedding. What a laugh!

It’s from Maori Warriors performing it right before or after mass murdering people.

They probably did a really authentic one right before they genocided the peaceful Moriori people of Chatham island

“We insist that protesters stop using our taonga (cultural treasure) immediately.”...

Or... what?

I know that some of our brothers in Canada, New Zealand and Australia have some unusual legal protections for indigenous peoples. So what are we talking about? Criminal charges? Civil cases? Public shaming? Rioting (after a proper Kata I would imagine)?

Good question. Since it’s ‘guardian’d property’ maybe it’s like music - can’t use the song unless you have rights? I think, culturally, tho, if the Big Cheese says something, it’s a small island.

In the meantime, I’m going to sit back and wait for the pantifa to come out to police “inappropriate cultural use”, and get it handed to them instead.

Since the 70’s, many Kiwi didn’t vote as it seemed whatever they did, the Ruling Class got in anyway.
My hope is that this will finally wake up the voters and they will begin to throw out the Communists.

Australia tried the same with a leader of their Aborigines. Didn’t turn out too well, as they forgot to give him a saline solution (instead of the real ‘vaccine’), and thus he quickly ‘joined the gods’.
