They know it isn’t true but they need to give their ignorant base so much confidence that the swelling of their heads shuts off the passages to their ears, and the surest way to do that is to deploy flattery by telling their base how scientific and smart they are, use peer pressure by exaggerating their numbers, censor opposition, and demean and dehumanize all opponents to prevent and dissenters in their base from asking questiond and risking similar punishment and humiliation.
They especially like to lie by omission. Note in the Benghazi investigation the press avoided the obvious question about who refused to grant the in extremist forces cross border authority? No questions about Obama administration meetings with Palestinian terrorists in the month they went after Flynn for trying to block a pro terrorist resolution in the UN. No questions about the clusterflucks in foreign policy, about support for Russian oil ambitions, the deliberate effort to destroy the American work ethic, nothing. No serious pursuit of the coup plot that the Democrat Party engaged in with Russian assistance. How can anyone believe a bunch of people who need censorship to stay in office?

The question is, what country can afford to support it’s citizens? Government produces nothing (except worthless fiat currency, which it is printing at unprecedented volume). A country must begin with the premise that its citizens want to take care of themselves. That is the only way it can actually afford to take care of those who truly cannot care for themselves.
