‘Rust’ Budget: Star, Producer and Armorer Fees Revealed
Hollywood Reporter ^ | 11/4/2021 | REBECCA KEEGAN, KIM MASTERS

Posted on 11/04/2021 5:07:28 PM PDT by marcusmaximus

Alec Baldwin was set to earn $150,000 as lead actor and $100,000 as producer, while $7,913 was earmarked for armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and $17,500 was set aside for the rental of weapons and $5,000 for rounds.

The producers of the movie Rust earmarked $650,000 to pay themselves, $7,913 to pay their armorer and $350,000 as a contingency in case anything went wrong. That’s according to a draft of the production budget for the New Mexico-set Alec Baldwin Western obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, a fairly typical one for a film of its price, say experts who reviewed the document for THR.

The independent movie was slated to cost $7,279,305 according to the copy dated Sept. 8, 2021. “I would say this movie will be a struggle, but I wouldn’t say it would have crashed and burned,” says one source with knowledge of similar productions who reviewed the budget. “I’m not sure why they needed six producers taking fees. They’d be falling all over each other if they’re really on set. But it’s not unheard of.”

I do NOT believe that Alec Baldwin was only getting less than $300,000.00 for this film.

Not an expert, but as an investor in the deal was he working cheap and expecting the payoff from sales later on?

That’s just for the acting and producing stuff. His money will come from the movie profits....which ain’t gonna happen.

That’s up to the point of release. I’d bet he gets a percentage of the now non-existing box office and video sales.

As one of the producers, Baldwin may have his own money tied up in the film.......getting a percentage of the gross, as well as acting fees.

That could be why he appears to regret the shooting incident.

His money will come from the movie profits..

The big shots always work for a percentage of the gross.

Let's see. 10% of nothing is - nothing.

“ $350,000 as a contingency in case anything went wrong.”

Six producers? I would expect that Alec has more mistresses than that.

Add in another half dozen required union officials, and that $7 million gets spent pretty quick.

Most definitely a tax dodge. He’s paying a salary at a level where he maxes his social security contribution for the year (toward maximizing his eventual benefits) but cuts off after that to minimize his Medicare payroll taxes.

His real earnings will come (or would have come) from payments from his limited liability corporation. That corporation will pay HIS state income taxes for him and they will be completely deductible and not limited to the SALT limit we ordinary mortals are held.

He’s the typical left-wing HYPOCRITE crying “pay your fair share” to others while making sure HIS share is minimized.

They were paying the armorer a measly $7900? I guess that’s why they got one with no experience.

Does this maybe explain why the unions were so pissed?
Or maybe they will be even MORE PISSED now?

I do NOT believe that Alec Baldwin was only getting less than $300,000.00 for this film.

This was only the production budget.

In Hollyweird there is a thing called a "backend deal," which is a cut of the box office. I'm positive that Baldwin would have had a cut of the box office as part of his full "compensation package."
