No argument here.

The debacle that was the last days of Afghanistan proved that there’s an awful problem with US leadership.

The same one that seems to strike every few years. See also: Clinton (no tanks in Somalia, let Osama go) and Obama (ISIS). There’s a pattern there.

But yes, you are correct. Today the left are really threatening to hollow out US capabilities.

Woke politics and the vaccine mandate are terrible own goals. Except that they are not own goals, but attacks by America’s enemies.

But the Marines have been in war non-stop since 2001 and that’s a long time for a fighting force. At a certain point, rather than experience building them up and strengthening them, non-stop war wears men down. They lose their edge and their fire.

Thats crap. The Royal Marines are the baddest fighting force on the planet. Just check this discipline routine out! Lets see our trannys keep up with this powerhouse!

The USMC is a scary powerful force, and their philosophy is admirable. But they rely on the competence of their command structure to achieve success. Let us hope a day comes when they are cleansed of political correctness.

I’m sick of being assaulted in every form of media with this woke bull snitt. I’ll paint with whatever brush is handy. I have more respect for Putin than the current leaders of this country when it comes to normalcy. Britain being openly more perverse in their media presentations long before it happened in this country. But we here in America are catching up fast. It’s utterly disgusting.

Depends on the training objectives of the units.

The US Marines have a great big desert training area.

I don’t think desert fighting is their main mission.

They recently got rid of their tanks.

If you take this training opportunity seriously, you will call for a reset.

Grinding down forces for 3 more days doesn’t really teach much.

It’s also a different mindset when you are getting shot with paintballs versus getting shot with lead.

You tend to be a bit more cautious after the first few heads are blown off.

All this assumes that the leadership is willing to learn from this exercise, and what it will learn.

This is a military leadership that is still taking credit for a successful withdrawal from Afghanistan.

USFOR were attrited while conducting an attack, CTC rotations always favor the defender and defensive troops were regenerated continuously, while attackers were not.

So I was in 29 for one of these iterations of royal commandos kicking our butts. They went to the PX and bought cammies and walked right into a planning tent in cammies and listened to our whole plan.

At first I thought USS Harvey Milk was just a joke.

But sadly I was wrong.

Here's the story of what really happened and the parts the media in a rush for sensationalism glossed over

Marine Corps Rejects Reports That It ‘Surrendered’ To British Forces During Exercise
The U.K. Royal Marines that reportedly trounced a U.S. Marines Corps unit were actually fighting right alongside other American Marines.
By Joseph Trevithick November 4, 2021

"During this exercise, a U.S. Marine Regiment augmented with subordinate units formed an adversary force to actively challenge and test a peer regiment of U.S. Marines," the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) at Twentynine Palms told The War Zone in a statement. "This training opportunity increased warfighting readiness and interoperability of the U.S. Marine Corps with multinational forces."

This is the particularly important immediate context that many of the initial media reports at best glossed over. The Royal Marines were attached to a larger force that included elements of the U.S. Marine Corps itself, as well as Canadian, Dutch, and Emirati troops. The British contingent reportedly worked directly alongside personnel from the Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) and the UAE's Presidential Guard, a specialized force modeled after the U.S. Marines, among other elements, for this exercise.

"This training opportunity increased warfighting readiness and interoperability of the U.S. Marine Corps with multinational forces. Exercise scenarios are adjusted as needed to assist commanders in meeting training objectives," the statement from the MCAGCC continued. "'Winners' are never determined. This exercise does not provide an opportunity to 'surrender,' 'keep score,' or 'reset.' The objective of the exercise is to heighten unit performance and increase readiness."

Maybe the reporters confused their “research” of mock battles with their watching the early part of “The Dirty Dozen”.
