'Rust' armorer's attorneys speculate sabotage occurred on set in deadly Alec Baldwin shooting incident
Fox News ^ | November 3, 2021 | Tyler McCarthy

The armorer on the set of "Rust" offered a chilling theory through her attorneys about what led to the accidental shooting death of Halyna Hutchins.

Armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed was one of four people who handled the weapon prior to Alec Baldwin firing it while rehearsing a scene for the indie-western. As a result, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said that the investigation is largely focused on her as well as how a live round made its way to the set of the film at all.

Speaking on the "Today" show Wednesday Jason Bowles and Robert Gorence claim that the bullets their client loaded into the gun on the day of the shooting were taken from a box that was only supposed to contain dummy rounds that were incapable of firing. However, because the ammunition was left unattended from roughly 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, they believe the opportunity was there for a disgruntled crew member to mix a live round into the box.

"We don’t know, however, whether that live round came from that box," Bowlees said. "We’re assuming it did. We’re assuming somebody put that live round in that box, which, if you think about that, the person who put the live round in the box of dummy rounds had to have the purpose of sabotaging the set. There’s no other reason you would do that. That you would mix that live round with the dummy rounds."

then she is responsible... and reports say more live rounds were found

did she not know the guns were being used in her absence?
if so, bad juju

if not, she still should have spun the cylinder...

i also read she “shot” herself in the foot on set

if true, why she wasn’t let go right then and there is a real problem

"the ammunition was left unattended from roughly 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day"... Whoa!!!! ... That's a MAJOR FUBAR!!!

I thought so too. I know very little about guns, but I know enough to be careful, be very careful, and this wasn't careful.

Wouldn’t matter if Baldwin hadn’t violated the first rule of gun safety

“i also read she “shot” herself in the foot on set”

If you are referring to the armorer then that is incorrect.

No one forced Alec Baldwin to point the gun at the woman and pull back the hammer all the way and pull the trigger.

OK, if this isn’t her, my bad...

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/rust-prop-shot-foot-accidental-discharge-alec-baldwin-shooting

The outlet reports another shooting involved a woman in the props department. She was handling a gun and accidentally shot herself in the foot with a blank round, according to Lane Luper, the A-camera first assistant on “Rust.”

12% times 5% = .6% which is still quite significant in a close race.

And if it happened, it was under her nose, and she failed in her job to maintain a chain of custody. Not a great defense.

Like the rounds in your pic, dummy rounds have a “telltale” to make them easily identifiable. A hole drilled in the case, primer missing, drilled or dimpled, a pellet inside the case that rattles when shaken. In most cases, the primer is missing, but for dummy rounds used in westerns, the primer sometimes appears intact because they are visible in belts and bandoleers.

Regardless of what the telltale was, there is no excuse for not verifying each round individually. That’s her job.

“but for dummy rounds used in westerns, the primer sometimes appears intact because they are visible in belts and bandoleers.”

At least one company makes special dummy rounds for belts that do not fit in Guns.

From other reports, there was also a negligent discharge by a stuntman who was told the gun was “cold”. I’ve read there were at least 2 ND’s in the week before the fatal shooting, now this story says there were 3. What a circus.

Also, the “Prop Master”, a woman who apparently had the combo to the armorer’s safe, got the weapon out of the safe and brought it to the scene prior to it being handed to Baldwin. I wonder if she was the person who shot herself in the foot?

Too bad, so sad. It doesn’t matter. Actually makes it worse for you.

If such a thing could happen (it could), then you and Alec are even MORE GUILTY of negligence for not checking the gun for ammo.

Under New Mexico law, Alec was responsible for checking the gun HIMSELF!

HIS RESONSIBILITY. He committed a FELONY. Involuntary manslaughter, no question about it. GUILTY!

Are we seriously to believe that Donald Trump is investigating the Alec Baldwin shooting?

I considered this from the beginning. However, Alec Baldwin could have prevented the death if he was smart enough to do what most shooters would have done, check the gun himself to see if it was loaded. If he wasn’t such a lazy slob she would still be with us. All it would have taken was about 15 seconds to push the cylinder around. Secondly, I never point a gun in anybody’s direction. That was just stupid.

Nowhere does it mention who is responsible for checking if weapon is loaded.
