Here’s what happened on Jan 6. You can review the “official timeline” even.

At 1 PM a few dozen (antifa in cognito) arrived and had their fake fight with the fake police. They anticipated patriots to be there by 1 PM, but Trump delayed his speech by an hour and rambled on.

At 2:30 PM, real patriots arrived at the capitol. These are the 400 that the police invited in and walked in among the ropes. These are the people in jail.

The Capitol Police’s official story is these patriots over-powered the police, which is BS. I was there, and there was over a hundred police standing around in front of the capitol.
