As the West careens toward the COVID-centered anthill society, nobody defends the individual’s personal autonomy.
It matters not that the few “Republican governors crusading against vaccine mandates are [allegedly] facing significantly lower approval ratings on their handling of the coronavirus pandemic than their counterparts,” as Politico purports. (Don’t believe Politico!)
What matters are governors like Texas’ Greg Abbott, who “flat-out banned vaccine requirements, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, [who] followed up by vowing to sue the Biden administration.”
These two governors are unique in upholding natural, inalienable, individual rights—the right of self-ownership and bodily dominion; the stuff mocked by Joe Biden, wearing a ghoulish grin.
Biden’s remark came at a recent, highly contrived CNN town hall, during which “moderator Anderson Cooper noted that as many as one in three emergency responders in some major cities are refusing to comply with city vaccine mandates.”
“I’m wondering where you stand on that,” inquired Cooper. “Should police officers, first responders be mandated to get vaccines? And if not, should they be mandated to stay at home, let go?”
“Yes, and yes,” replied the president.
Disinterred for the day, Biden went on to mock the quaint notion of personal autonomy with a demented quip, “I have the freedom to kill you with my COVID. I mean, come on, freedom.”

Seems some people need to be reminded that the government is OUR servant, not the other way around.
If your Republican rep isn’t doing the same as Texas and Florida; then it’s time to fire them.
Is there any other kind?
Recently had an appointment with a new doc.. the hate from his mouth over my lack of vaccination was truly uncomfortable. He really thought the vaccine would save everybody as long as everybody got it. And it wasn’t about me, it was about everybody else. it was about my selfishness in not getting the vax. I won’t be back.
I don’t know how this is going to come out since the Supreme Court just came down 6-3 in favor of totalitarian government.
I believe that was just an emergency action, the case itself is still ongoing.
I recently had a visit with my long-time primary doc. She was downright ornery as she went down her list of recommended stuff that I hadn't done - COVID shot, flu shot, pneumonia shot. I remember when she was a young doc and the medical practice was physician owned. She was full of energy and enthusiasm and the practice provided her with a lot of autonomy and on-site testing. Now it's part of a large hospital network, and the care is increasingly 'cookbook' in orientation. Doctors are limited to plastic disposable tools (no scalpels) and all testing is done in separate testing centers. I suspect she'll retire soon. Many docs are fed up with the changes in their profession, bureaucracy and lack of autonomy. She still has an obligation to 'do no harm' and to provide informed consent. I'm not sure how she reconciles her training and values with the demands of insurers and hospital network administrators. I suspect she doesn't believe in what she is doing and is deeply unhappy. Good people are being driven out or reduced to shadows of what they once were.
