This would be an appropriate time for Alec and his Bride to leave the kids with a Grandparent for a few days, so the two adults can have some peace and quiet.
Every family is different. Maybe Alec wants/ needs to be surrounded by his little tribe right now. Some folks fear being alone with their thoughts.

If Baldwin has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, then he is not capable of the feelings you describe. Its all about him, his pain, his devastation, his grief, and he will constantly work overtime 24/7 to make himself the victim. And judging from what im seeing in the media, its exactly whats happening even to the point of Baldwin getting annoyed when his wife looked to upstage him in the interview. No one upstages a Narcissist, ever.
