On FB the other day a mom showed a photo of her 9 year old son crying in the backseat of her car as she took him to get ice cream.

When I was a kid about 9 years old, I came home crying after getting punched by some black kids. My mom shoved me out the door and told me to fight back, and not come home crying. She was tough on me.

Except for my stint in the service and a couple of months wasted at college, I rode the subway daily for more than 40 years and for the life of me I can’t remember that.
