Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said it may take weeks "if not months" of follow-up investigation before charges, if any, are filed.
The Santa Fe County district attorney said the investigation into the fatal shooting on the set of Rust could take weeks, if not months, and she would not rule out criminal charges.
Speaking to The New York Times ahead of a planned press conference Wednesday, district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said her office has not “ruled out anything” following last week’s shooting death of Rust’s director of photography, Halyna Hutchins. “Everything at this point, including criminal charges, is on the table,” she said Tuesday.
Carmack-Altwies confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and told the Times that detectives from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office are focusing on who placed the ammunition in the gun. They are also looking at ballistics, in order to determine the type of round that was in the weapon. But Carmack-Altwies noted that it will still be some time before charges, if any, are filed.

Who pulled the trigger?
That is the only relevant question.
L
Looks like the next villain on Better Call Saul.
“if not months”
It takes a long time for money to change hands.
.
Long enough to get three payments.
This reminds me of the St. Louis couple defending their home. Anyone with a brain knew the DA was going to throw Murders aside to get them.
Everyone knows Baldwin is off-limits here.
.
Everyone who handled the gun, from the armorer up to and including Baldwin, should face criminal charges. If someone hands you a gun you assume it is loaded and handle it as a loaded gun until you physically inspect it yourself to confirm that it is not, regardless of whether someone told that it is not loaded or even if you watched them check.the gun immediately before handing it to you. The last person sho checked the gun may be blind or an idiot, which is self evident from the fact that someone loaded the gun with a live roud.
Baldwin was criminally negligent for not confirming that the gun was not loaded, for pointing the gun at another person instead of in a safe direction, and for putting his finger on the damned trigger before he was ready to fire. No one would have been injured if he had followed any one of these basic rules for handling guns.
I learned the basic rules of gun safety when I was 6 years old. Even a gun hating liberal actor should know and practice basic gun safety rules if he handles guns as part of his job.
Fixed it.
Now “she” looks phat.
Meh. She just needs to milk this case until she’ s a national name. The next student of the Mike Nifong School of Attention Whoring.
if some unknown person handed another unknown person (ie not famous people- just regular schmoes), and that person failed to check the gun, pointed it at someone and fired and killed someone- who woudl be to blame?
The person pulling the trigger woudl be to blame of course-
It’s not any different in this case-
Just like Spielberg who killed vic morrow and a little kid. over the top explosion crashed the helicopter down on em. video shows the rotor taking his head off.
It was John Landis who decapitated Vic morrow and 2 children.and he got away withit
you are correct and it was the “Twilight zone” movie. as i now recall. thank you.
See, you fell for the diversion.
Only one question needs answering: who owns the trigger finger?
Civil court is where its at, Baby. After Baldwin’s done in civil court he won’t be able to afford a pair of Depends.
Months
Gotta let it disappear from the public’s minds so they can go soft on Baldwin and not have too many people complain
This will take weeks only because that amount of time is estimated for everyone to forget it and “move on”.
