ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington's police chief says he does not believe bullying played any role in this month's school shooting at Mansfield ISD’s Timberview High School.
Shortly after the shooting, which injured two students and a teacher, Timothy Simpkins' family said he'd been the target of bullying. They said that's what led to a classroom fight and ended with the shooting.
The family of the injured student involved in the fight denied the boy had bullied Simpkins.
The police chief said Simpkins participated in "high-risk activity" leading up to the fight. That announcement was made at a town hall meeting held by Mansfield ISD.
Arlington Police Chief Al Jones said the only evidence of bullying he’s seen so far is a statement from Simpkins’ family. He believes the shooting stemmed from some sort of disagreement between the suspect and the victim.
Two weeks after a Timberview High School student shot 15-year-old Zacchaeus Selby, teacher Calvin Pettit and grazed a teenage girl, Chief Jones gave an update on the investigation.
"This was not a bullying incident. I just want to take that narrative out of the equation," the chief said. "Mr. Simpkins is involved in high-risk activity, and that high-risk activity led to the disagreement within the community."

Dealing drugs? I mean, that kid is driving a $35k car to high school.
I always find it telling that, early in many investigations with political dimensions, when the facts are still being assembled, some big fat load states unequivocally that WHATEVER HAPPENED, IT ABSOLUTELY WASN’T _________ (fill in the blank with the thing being rejected...but which is likely the motive).

Pretty much. I teach at a HS and we had former “alumni” kill a guy with $10K of weed and dump him on the high school’s road.

Not a “school shooting”. I.E., not mass murder or even an attempt. Just another common thug fight that happened to be in a crowded location.

I knew both the murderer and the victim. 1/2 a pound of weed was involved. Killer stabbed the victim in the stomach. Then drove him around for 5 hours till he died.

If details would interfere with a successful prosecution, just say so.
He pretends that getting your ass kicked in school is justification for carrying a gun in class and shooting the attacker.....and shouldn't be called a "school shooting".

My lily white son goes to Timberview; they have a custom program for kids with Asbergers and he is rocking his grades. Sixty percent of the kids are in advanced placement courses earning college credits in high school. Most will earn their Associate’s degree by the time they graduate.
The perp lives in Mira Lagos. To be economically disadvantaged living in Mira Lagos means Mom and Dad are earning less than 200k a year.
Sounds like a dopey white dude upset that he’s in a majority-minority school. Lakeridge, which my older 2 graduated from, is ranked higher but still has a majority-minority population.
