Just damn.
What I want to know is with all this big brother and technology, why can’t the towers or ‘system’ work off the fact the calls are making it to a working phone. Just use the gps data or tower data when the call is processed to locate the phone itself.
This is totally within the realm of technology, I can’t buy that no law enforcement can’t do this.
I hate getting those calls for my car warranty when I’m trying to get rescued.
Yep, the Darwin Awards was probably also trying to track them down.
Is this another person who uses "they & their" as personal pronouns?
I can relate to this man’s adversity to SPAM calls
Had they sent him a text, he probably would have read it.
They are really going out of their way to not mention the hiker’s name.
That was not time to take Spam Callers.
Hiker, singular, THEY/THEIR plural?................
‘Yes, I know I’m late on my Citibank card payment. If you can get me off this mountain, I can get it caught up!”
“What is your location, sir?”
“Nepal.”
“Oh, I am in Nepal. I mean, Chicago. Head south 1 kilometer and you will be on a winding path. Turn right and you will arrive at a village. Ask for Norgay. You can wait for rescuers there.”
was he lost? he was receiving calls seems like he could make calls.
Is there a near Darwin award?
They should have taken him back in the boonies and left him without a cell phone and smeared bacon grease all over him.
If he didn’t want to answer spam. Here is a tip that could save his life next time. Change the voicemail on the phone to a message that gives his approximate location, the time, the date, his situation (lost, out of gas, car broken down, injured, etc...) and any special instructions such as staying with the car, walking toward a town (north, south, etc...). The best part of this is that even if he lost his cell phone or it stops working, voicemail still works.
Wonder if this guy has ever been snipe hunting?
Democrat?
Would be rescuers should be aware that fatigue, dehydration, hunger, and panic make people do stupid things; and the people most likely to become lost, etc., aren’t likely to be the savviest in the first place. Telling people to answer their phones regardless is not going to fix that.
Practical suggestion for LSCAR: Add “Rescue” or “Lake Co Rescue” to their cell phone info. Their calls would read out as such on phones of even the dumbest hikers. D’oh!
Has a phone but is lost?? LOL! Moron.
What the heck is this? Were there multiple people lost or has Fox gone totally woke? Read the article and note there are no references to the gender of the hiker.
