(CNN)A member of a scientific coalition advising Puerto Rico's government on the coronavirus pandemic recently joked about the island's high Covid-19 vaccination rate, attributing it to the proliferation of drug store chains on the island....

The Caribbean island -- in recent years pummeled by deadly hurricanes, rocked by earthquakes, beset by political unrest and saddled by debt -- has quietly managed to outpace even New England states with the highest vaccination rates in the country....

..."Best I can tell, they've done this largely by not tying vaccines to politics," Jha wrote last weekend. "They pay less attention to mainland politics. All their political parties actively support vaccinations. And generally, political [identity] & vaccinations are not intermixed."...

...... wanting to save lives during the pandemic was never politicized in Puerto Rico," Colón Ramos said. "Difficult decisions were made and criticized," he said. "But, for example, mask mandates were never really politicized. The importance of vaccination was never made into a political issue. It helped to send a coherent message that was based on scientific evidence."...

not a good example because you’d be comparing India to the entire of England whereas PR is compared just to similar sized states instead of the entire US.

It's a perfect example--they are (or were) both territories of the parent country.

PR is not part of the US.

Nothing happens in Puerto Rico without the governor and his imps getting a slice. Let’s start there.

Looks like it’s worked great for the /s

Vaccinations:

861-FC768-1283-453-E-8-F4-A-C268499-E9-B78

Cases:

7-C5-E3-B64-ADDC-4665-B38-E-BA309762319-F

Deaths

C82957-A1-2-D58-424-A-A104-F4-A82-C521925

Study:

Increases in COVID-19 are unrelated to levels of vaccination across 68 countries and 2947 counties in the United States

Of the top 5 counties that have the highest percentage of population fully vaccinated (99.9–84.3%), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies 4 of them as “High” Transmission counties. Chattahoochee (Georgia), McKinley (New Mexico), and Arecibo (Puerto Rico) counties have above 90% of their population fully vaccinated with all three being classified as “High” transmission. Conversely, of the 57 counties that have been classified as “low” transmission counties by the CDC, 26.3% (15) have percentage of population fully vaccinated below 20%.

The British Raj is dead, Jim. ;-)

Still, your point is well taken. I do have to wonder...when the PR blood clots and heart problems are exposed, will the physical USA be on the hook for the $$$ settlements?
