CBS has been dead last in the evening news ratings for over 30 years, dating back to the Dan Rather era. Gotta wonder how much longer the local affiliates are going to put up with such a lousy lead-in for their local news or prime time access programming. Guaranteed that complaints from local stations are driving this move. Would not be surprised if CBS has been told by large market stations (not owned by the network) are threatening to drop the show if an anchor change is not made.

Meanwhile, the anchor they dropped in favor of O’Donnell (Jeff Glor) has led CBS This Morning Saturday to first place in the ratings. And he makes a lot less than Ms O’Donnell.

Reading the news on TV has to be the most inefficient delivery mechanism there is. Even if they honestly tried to present the news, there’s so little time that they just can’t say anything substantial. So they just jam in as much rat propaganda as they can in 22 minutes.
