Something a martial arts instructor told me years ago. When you decide to take action, fully take action! Don’t half step or go timidly. Move fast and move decisively. Most people will be shocked that anyone is doing anything and react slower.

Of course, he did say “most”. The marine got lucky.

Indeed. As someone who trained extensively in martial years a long time ago(karate) I was always told act quickly, with force and follow through.

A good kia(’’key I’’) yell, screaming loudly while you execute your attack is a good way to put your opponent off balance.
