This is a link to an archive.org page with a working emulator based on DosBox that will run in your browser just by clicking on the "Emulate it!" picture at the top of the page. It takes a minute or two to load everything up and then the screen goes blank for a little bit when you make your selection. Hit the speaker icon and then the full screen button and you will be transported back to computing in 1992. This has worked in every browser that I have tried it in including Brave, Chrome, and Edge, but your mileage may vary.Hit the escape key to get out of full screen mode.

DOSBox can run thousands of old games that can be found on Archive.org on your new computer. This takes a little more setup and research to do but it is not very difficult.
Ping.
WHY ?.....................................................................
The days of writing in a notebook the COM and IRQ settings per device. LOL
I covered that in my description. Don’t take a look if you don’t want to. I like to reminisce to appreciate both where we are and where we have been. And to me some of the games that you can play in DOSBox are more fun and imaginative than the gory shoot-em ups and other high res crap that people play these days.
Because we can.

And making sure you have the right AT commands to dial up a bulletin board service.
Because old software is still in use. You see it especially with old computers on industrial equipment. The equipment manufacturer is long out of business but the equipment is still in use.
Why spend $1M to replace a piece of older machinery when an emulator will let you keep it running?
I have two computers at work that still use DOS and Windows 3.1....................
We still have two 3.1 computers at work................
I HAD THAT!........................
A little computer nostalgia.
Your sword has begun to glow very brightly.

They have a bunch of Leisure Suit Larry games on Archive.org. Many of them run in an Apple emulator.

You likely also can remember the tune that played and played and played and...
I miss Zork.
Looking for a Windows 98 emulator that will allow the running of games, etc., plus some professional software I still would like to use.(In those two cases the companies failed before Win7, etc. No one picked up converting them over!)
Any recommendations ?
Occasionally, I see a freeware download for a Windows 95.
I wonder, “Why?”
[Of course, I only gave up Win7 desktop when it crashed a couple of months ago. Decided to replace it with a Win10 desktop. Lost the laser printer and scanner — no win10 drivers, but I can still use them through a Win7 Virtual Box. And I still have a Win7 laptop.]
Some of my earliest experiences with computers was DOS3 and Windows 1. A colleague had Win1 — it was little more than a clumsy menuing program with a few games. Win2 wasn’t much better. Win3 was a significant improvement that made ‘Windows’ usable.
