The Art Institute of Chicago fired all of its trained volunteers and guides last month, who were mostly older White women, to diversify its team.
"We were surprised, we were disappointed," Gigi Vaffis, president of the docent council, said in an interview with radio station WBEZ of the firings. "There is an army of very highly skilled docents that are willing and ready and able to continue with arts education."
The Art Institute used to have more than 100 docents, 82 of whom were active, until an executive director of learning and engagement, Veronica Stein, sent an email on Sept. 3 firing them all, the Wall Street Journal reported. Docents are trained volunteers who lead tours of museums, and at the Art Institute, they averaged 15 years of unpaid service.

I wonder if the Art Institute keeps statistics on the race of people who visit the museum—how many white, how many Asian, how many Hispanic and how many black? My guess would be that the proportion of African Americans who pay to see a bunch of art mostly produced by dead white men is less than the proportion of African Americans in Chicago and vicinity.

Early on in the Covid mess, I had a consultation with a woman who wanted landscaping. She was dressed in black, and had a black face shield on. She looked like Darth Vader. I couldn’t see her eyes. I had a very hard time communicating with her. Thought it was so weird. Still do. She was stupid.

Notice that this Veronica Stein didn’t fire her own white @ss - an excess of white women is apparently a problem as long as it doesn’t personally affect the individual doing the virtue signaling.
