Florida woman spends night in jail after refusing to leave daughter's side at hospital [daughter had brain surgery, not Covid]

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—A Florida woman has spent the night in jail after refusing to leave her daughter's side at the hospital.

“I stand by my actions 100%. I am not sorry that I made them take me out of there in handcuffs,” Lynn Savage told Action News Jax.

Savage refused to leave her daughter's side while she was recovering from brain surgery at the University of Florida Health North. She said her daughter is non-verbal and was partially paralyzed after suffering from a stroke.

“I could not in good conscience and good heart leave her bedside not knowing how she was going to make it through the night voluntarily," Savage said.

The 70-year-old great-grandmother said she needed to be there to help her daughter remain calm and to interpret.

“The nurse said that the visiting hours were over at 7 p.m. and I had to leave and I said, 'I’m not going to leave. I want to stay here with my daughter. Can you call the doctor because the doctor is the one that wanted me here with her?' And she said no that they couldn’t do that that COVID rules said that visiting hours were over at 7 p.m.,” Savage said.

An arrest report says security spent ours pleading for Savage to leave before arresting her. She spent about 24 hours in jail.

“Not an experience that I would ever want to do again for the rest of my life not ever. It was horrible. It was filthy, it was more like an insane asylum with the women screaming and hollering and banging on bars and banging on walls. It was just terrifying, but I would rather be there than know that I had walked away from my daughter," she said.

She was booked for trespassing.

This is the first time I have heard that doctors and hospitals are criminals.

Wait. Did I go to the wrong website? Or did you mean the government and the media and just mistyped, or just decided to include a few more people and preferably those on the front lines helping us with this epidemic?

“I’d love to see the “science” that shows Covid magically becomes more dangerous after 7 p.m.”

Not a problem for Hillary, her side-piece Huma, and Chelsea visiting Bill.

Anyone who isn’t willing to defy “authorities” to stay with his daughter when her life is in danger, does not value his/her daughter or son or wife.

The police who put her in jail are soulless slime.

I’d like to know what Ron DeSantis thinks about this, and he should have the Florida AG charge the security guards. You’d expect this in a Democrat state as they are actual terrorists, like it’s okay when they violently protest since leftists are allowed to do that while peaceful protests by We The People are not. I read an article over at TheFederalist about that, “Can You Spot The Difference Between These Two Insurrection Photos?”, so give that a look. And it wasn’t just 2 days ago either, as leftists took over government buildings over Trump’s SCOTUS picks but MSM ignore that. Given the other medical conditions listed this woman had every right to believe her daughter might not survive that surgery and she didn’t want her to die alone if it went poorly.

...OR a democRAT as rules and laws don’t apply to them, even if they helped pass them.

Non-verbal and she had a stroke plus brain surgery. Your moral compass is off.

Sorry but I’m with the hospital on this. I work at a hospital, we have rules and EVERYBODY wants to make their own set of rules. People feel like they don’t have to follow rules any more. So many people feel they should be exempted from what everyone else has to follow.

On the other hand, if the daughter truly was non-verbal, hospitals always (in my understanding) allow a person like that a caregiver if they are not able to take care of themselves.

I feel like there’s more than one side to this story.

"Hmmm, I am conflicted on this report."

The nurse said "that they couldn’t allow her to stay because COVID rules said that visiting hours were over at 7 p.m." It's a bullshit rule, and I'd bet that it's not enforced consistently by hospital staff. Does Covid only infect people between certain hours? The nurse took the time to call the cops on the mother, but she couldn't take the time to call the doctor to ask about the mother's staying past visiting hours? If it was my daughter, I would have turned into Shirley MacLaine's character in "Term's of Endearment."

As we’ve seen so many times with Covid, they make up rules for the sake of rules. I’d love to see the “science” that shows Covid magically becomes more dangerous after 7 p.m.

People with Covid are not typically allowed visitors at all except in end of life circumstances.

You are a very understanding person. Much more than I am. I would have gone off in handcuffs rather than be with my disabled family member.

Men seem not to have the wired-in-need to care for our children. If men had that, they would understand how important it is to be with those under our care.

I’ve had a circumstances like yours. Mine turned out a bit better. The b___ nurse finally backed down.

L::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I really don’t know how to answer that except to say that you would need the biggest backhoe in history to dig your head out of the amount of sand it’s buried in.

... and yes, in my opinion, you definitely are on the wrong website. People are allowed to engage their brains here and not blindly accept what they’re told by the mainstream media who are told things by people like doctors and hospitals spokespeople. My sister has worked in administration at a hospital for approximately 20 years. The most ill-informed person I know concerning covid. As to your exaggeration of what I said, no they’re not criminals they are just ignorant, lemming fools.

If the doctor’s you presumably consider Heroes wanted to speak the truth, they’d be talking about all the damage that the vaccines are doing and how absurd the mandates are. As well as the fact of how beneficial Therapeutics are and the fact that they should be the priority and not these premature vaccines. You know I might have just talked myself into thinking that although there may not be a direct law that they’re violating , yes many doctors and hospital Administration people are moral criminals.

I am not.

A good hospital will allow you to stay with your loved one.

A bad hospital will not allow you to stay because they do not want you to see the disgraceful manner they are neglecting them.

I have spent way to much time in various hospitals in the past decade and that rule is iron clad.

Bad hospitals restrict access by the family.

Good hospitals don't.

And hell holes act like this hospital did.

Well, I guess we should just let everyone in again. Running the halls, kids everywhere all the time, coming and going all hours of the day. Coughing all over each other, silly of us to check people for covid before they come into a hospital, all these people at risk due to compromised immune systems, no more rules in a hospital, rules are for lemmings and those that follow the main stream media. Should just be a free for all and only the strongest survive.

We just love people like you at the hospital, rules should not apply to them. Usually I will say tho that I love the older people at the hospital, it’s usually the kids who think they shouldn’t have to follow the rules but I see there are apparently some older folks who feel the same.

Strongly disagree with your statement. Prior to covid, yes, I could see that but hospitals are restricting access because we have sick people and you cannot tell who has covid and who does not. Just one person going down the hall coughing all over the nurses and patients is all it takes to spread covid.

And that is why nursing homes have been shut down to visitors since covid. These people are at risk and their lives are more important than your desire to be allowed unlimited access.

Hospitals have to be in charge of these decisions.

Will you still think that when your spouse/parent of 50 years dies alone and you are not able to be with them?

I was not allowed to stay with my daughter when I had flown across the country to be with her in the hospital, so yes, I respected the hospital’s rules and would always do so.

Prior to covid, yes, I could see that but...

No. Currently it is still an iron clad rule.

The hospital that fought the hardest to keep people out left the patient in her t-shirt for three days, she was coughing up fluid and they were not changing her sheets, she could not talk above a whisper and the "nurse" was shouting at her from across the room to speak up.

Oh and by the way not WuFlu.

And that is why nursing homes have been shut down to visitors since covid.

No, it is once again to prevent the family from seeing how their family is being abused.

And when they die, oh.. it was WuFlu of course. Pay no attention to the bedsores the size of plates. Sure... it was WuFlu.

Whatever.

People have lost their f*ng minds with Covid hysteria revealing the worst of human traits; tribalism, irrational fear, subjugation of others, unthinking obedience to authority.

“””And that is why nursing homes have been shut down to visitors since covid. These people are at risk and their lives are more important than your desire to be allowed unlimited access.”””

And that is why these nursing home patients are suffering from severe depression and begging to die since they can no longer see and talk to their loved ones.
