Does anyone have a list or a link to a list of food and items to stock up to help us get thru the coming shortages? Thanks

Coleman fuel. An axe, a gun, a horse, and a dog.

“speaking of recipes, if the power goes out, so do our computers and tvs....might be a good time to jot down some favorite recipes on an index card like we used to do....”

I’ve found quite a few on the internet that I printed out. My binder has two sections. One is for recipes that I use when things are normal and the other is for recipes during shortages, lockdowns and emergencies. Recipes that use ingredients that are dehydrated, fermented, canned, or boxed. Shelf stable. Meals that can be cooked on the my LP gas stove top which I can light with a log lighter or matches.

I also have quart bottles of homemade chili, ham and pinto bean soup and black bean and lentil soup in the basement. Just dump the contents of the quart bottle in a pot and heat on the stove top. No muss. No fuss. Plus I keep in stock 36 cans of condensed soup in the pantry. Vegetable beef, chicken noodle, cream of celery, cream of chicken, tomato soup and cream of mushroom. For my wife and me, I’ll heat up two cans of soup so 36 cans, along with side dishes, makes 18 meals for the two of us. I try to keep on hand at least 21 quarts of homemade soups so that’s the basis for another 21 meals for the two of us.

Horses are way to much work. You’re better off with a good mule. Check out woodgas generators.
