Pelosi, her spending dreams in partial ruins, is promising to trim the bill but assures us that the feds will continue to spy on just about everyone's bank accounts.
Nancy Pelosi finally admitted that, faced with Sen. Joe Manchin's and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's laudable refusal to back down, the Democrats are not going to get their $3.5-trillion spending bill. However, Pelosi insists that the bill will still allow the feds to track every banking transaction over $600, something that manifestly violates the Fourth Amendment.
After Pelosi admitted that Democrats would have to trim their spending bill, she was asked whether the bill would continue to require banks to forward to the IRS all $600 transactions in bank accounts. Her answer, emphatically, was "yes":
"Yes. There are concerns that some people have, but if people are breaking the law and not paying their taxes, one way to track them is through the banking measure," she told reporters. "I think 600...that's a negotiation that will go on as to what the amount is, but yes."
The "concerns" Pelosi referenced are coming from a wider array of critics as banks, other businesses, lawmakers and trade associations are rising in opposition to the plan.
"The effects of this scheme are serious and far-reaching, putting the IRS between millions of people and their banks," said Billy Rielly, spokesman for the Consumer Bankers Association.

De we get equity by having the same power in a government fraud, waste and abuse police force under civilian control?
Americans shoud be just as determined to have traitorous Demonicrats tried, convicted, and sentenced to a short drop and quick stop.
It’s setting the stage for d so one sort of wealth tax.
Sure, they’ll use it to snoop and against enemies like they use the FBI, IRS, and every other gubmint agency.
But the main purpose is a new confiscatory tax. All part of their commie dream.
Still wondering if the #Fightfor15 crew can do the math...
Note to full-time minimum wage workers: You’re rich! Who knew!
They won’t ever enact a wealth tax.
They don’t have a mad-on for wealth.
Just work.
I see an increase in hard currency barter with junk silver coinage coming.
Well, just like how the commissars and their families got rich in the Soviet Union — for the good of the state, of course — Democrats approve of wealth for them.
They intend to tax everyone else’s, however.
I have been insisting for years that the government is going to eventually outlaw individual retirement accounts, is going to seize them from individuals, put them into a pool (where they can raid and waste them) and will dole them back out to you.
There will be a run on the banks which of course will lead to total chaos. It will then be blamed on Trump, Biden will declare a state of emergency, leading to martial law and at that point all that remains is an executive order outlawing guns.
Game, set and match.
Time to get in on the underground economy.

And they will because they do whatever they want. They will do it in their usual dirty way too.
Now the fact they want to do this is out there. You won’t hear any more about this until it is done and in effect.
The goal here is not really for the general public.
This will be used for political rivals, like Trump, in order to snoop there, just like they want to do with his tax returns.
The Biden administration is weaponizing both the government and big business in order to pave the way for trashing the Constitution and establishing the Socialist Democratic States of America.
I know.
Possibly that and their contributors too. Why else would the IRS need billions more in funding.
Sorry but this battle was lost long ago when $10,000 transactions were reported. I know that used to be a considerable sum, but even then, it wasn’t probable cause a crime was being committed. Get a warrant based on probable cause and all transactions can be monitored. Now all we are arguing about is the dollar amount that triggers monitoring. It might as well be every cent.
You do not understand, it is not our money, it is theirs. They are just letting us borrow it.
Reminds me of Winston Churchill. Madame, we’ve already established that you’re a whore, now we’re just negotiating the price.
"If" is a great reason for more government intrusion into our affairs, NOT! But this is a violation, on a very basic level, of the individual's right to privacy and thus violates the 4th Amendment. Nothing in the current law forbids the government getting a warrant to look at a financial account but this a priori assumption of guilt is abhorrent!
As an added bonus, we all know how 'secure' the IRS data is and how unbiased they are in politics, right? President Trump's tax data is slipped, ProPublica publishes info on multiple rich people, Lois Learner shuts down 501(c)3 applications for political reasons! Just imagine having that ability with bank account data!
