That’s a lot of Lego’s to potentially step on.

https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/new-titanic-2-cruise-ship-2022/

The Titanic II, which is a functioning replica of its ill-fated predecessor, will make its maiden voyage in 2020.

The $500-million luxury cruise liner, built by China, is a reconstruction of the original Titanic, which met its infamous fate back in 1912. The Titanic, although being constructed more than 100 years after its ancestor, will feature the period décor and layout design.

I think it might actually be unsinkable as Legos float.

The set won’t come cheap though: Available for pre-order from November 1 and general sale from November 8, the ship will retail at $629.99.

Yikes.

Technically this is not the largest Lego set in terms of pieces.

The Lego Art World Map features 11,965 pieces but it looks incredible boring to build and then you need to hang it on a wall.

I would rather build the Titanic, if I had the spare time to do such things.

Of all the historic events that merit wonder and further study, the sinking of the Titanic ranks exceedingly high. As a youth I was introduced to it by Walter Lord’s book, A Night to Remember. Ever since then a mild fascination has attached to the subject.

As for this LEGO kit, the price tag places it out of my league, but I like the idea. Meanwhile, have you seen the plastic Challenger kit with no assembly required?

This actually sounds like fun project. I haven’t built a model since I was in my teens.
