Over the last two weeks, 10 teams ranked in the top 15 have lost, including seven in the top 10.
The last time the No. 1 team in the country lost to an unranked team was 2008.
The last time Alabama lost to an unranked team was 2007.
Texas A&M snapped both those streaks and brought true chaos to this college football season.
The Aggies dragged a two-game losing streak into Kyle Field on Saturday night, looking like one of the most disappointing teams in the country.
Then Texas A&M beat the mighty Crimson Tide, scoring almost as many points in a walk-off victory (41) as the Aggies had in three previous games (42) against Power Five opponents.
“We knew the last two weeks that we didn’t play to the best of our ability,” A&M defensive back Antonio Johnson told reporters. “We knew this week was an opportunity.”
A&M’s upset, the biggest victory of Jimbo Fisher’s tenure in College Station and the first over Nick Saban by one of his former assistants in 25 tries, capped yet another thrilling Saturday in a season that is trying hard to make up for the pandemic-plagued mess of 2020.
Saturday afternoon featured back-and-forth offensive outburst between ranked teams in the Big 12 (Oklahoma-Texas) and Southeastern Conference (Arkansas-Mississippi), and a top-five slugest (Penn State-Iowa) in the Big Ten.
At night, No. 14 Notre Dame and No. 9 Michigan needed late field goals to win from behind before Texas A&M topped them all with a stunning upset.
Over the last two weeks, 10 teams ranked in the top 15 have lost, including seven in the top 10.
A 2021 season that so many fans feared would be long march to the same old, same old, with super teams turning the College Football Playoff race....

Assuming the Gators are out of it, I am rooting for Iowa.
Gig ‘em 👍🏼
Glad TX won. Didn't like the no-call on the one Bama TD that shouldn't have been.
GO DAWGS🏈🏈
The Florida game exposed Bama. Very average defensively. Georgia’s defense is championship caliber.
Crimson Tide fans shouldn’t despair. The Alabama booster club will be presenting bigger endorsement packages to packages to top recruits by the middle of next week.
Can ‘bama buy transfers mid-season? I know the transfer window has been liberalized but I don’t know where it rests at the moment. At the rate we’re going, it’s only a matter of time before players will be transferring at halftime.
Or we can just pull the plug on CFB, turn it back into a club sport for actual college students, return to real academic standards, send the steroid freaks away, and tell the NFL to run its own farm system.
It is not so much “that” they lost, it is “how”’ the hey lost.
The last time Georgia won a national title in football was 1980 ... led by a star freshman running back named Herschel Walker. :-)
I actually have to root for Georgia against Kentucky. If Kentucky wins they probably going to win the East.
Don’t remind me.
And suddenly the game with Tennessee looks interesting, they may have found themselves a quarterback.
I would also keep an eye out for Mississippi State that’s a tricky team. They can beat anybody and also lose to anybody. But if they eliminate the dumb mistakes, they will be a problem for anybody they play.
Makes person wonder if Covid has now contributed to a shortage of EXPERIENCE referees & the JR HIGH team is working major games????
The transfer portal is killing college football.
‘Bama can get into the playoffs by winning the SEC championship. It that’s their only loss, Georgia prolly gets in too. Big Ten and Big Twelve winners could round out the field. Cincy, even if undefeated, could be the odd man out.
Does GA have a Dominion Scoreboard?
Bama has some tricky games left, and if they don’t get the defense fixed, this will not be their only loss.
It would be nice, wouldn't it? The big programs will simply start to buy alent through endorsements, and that plus the "transfer portal" basically makes it semi-pro football.
