Windows 11 is now officially available to download. While Microsoft is launching Windows 11-powered hardware worldwide on October 5th, the company has made the OS update available early for eligible devices in New Zealand and beyond. If you’ve purchased a Windows 10 machine recently, that means you should be able to upgrade to Windows 11 right now.
For everyone else, the rollout of Windows 11 will be gradual. Microsoft says existing Windows 10 devices that are eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade will start to be able to upgrade today, but it will be mostly new hardware that will receive the upgrade immediately. Microsoft says, “We expect all eligible Windows 10 devices to be offered the upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.”
You can check to see if the Windows 11 upgrade is available in the Windows Update section in the Windows 10 settings area, or you may even be able to skip the queue and upgrade immediately using Microsoft’s new Installation Assistant.
Windows 11 includes a new user interface, a redesigned Start menu, an overhauled Microsoft Store, Widgets, Microsoft Teams integration, and lots more. Our full review is available here.
New Surface devices will start shipping on October 5th with Windows 11 preinstalled, alongside new PCs and laptops from Asus, Lenovo, and HP. Other PC makers like Acer, Dell, and Samsung will also be releasing new Windows 11 devices soon, too.
NOW we know what Facebook is down. I knew it was an update gone bad!
Windows 11 will have the new feature of subliminal messaging telling you to sell your farm land to Bill Gates.
Has it been hacked yet?
GateXi made it so that once upgraded,
NO ONE Can log on without a “vaccine”.
Their silly-ass commercial raises exactly zero interest in me to buy Win 11.
I went to the beta release of 11 awhile ago, even though my CPU is ‘out of date (made in 2017 btw). Now I’m worried I might have to go back to 10 to get updates. What a mess! Would need a full reinstall at this point to go back too.
Ping
Is Windows 11 free for users of Windows 10? Asking for a friend ....
Yes, but you need a fairly modern PC, since roughly 2018, to do so and be fully compatible. It’s a mess.
whooptie do!
Over the decades it seems that every other version of Windows has been a complete mess. I resist upgrades of everything as long as I can. When it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Recently had to update one of my Win 7 machines, and chose to keep 10 that was preloaded. I get that they needed to make it mobile device friendly. Still on another Win10 laptop I got for travel, I put a Win7 emulator skin on it. Also had to upgrade MS Office because my Outlook mail folder was too big for Outlook 2007. But I went with Office 2016. Ain’t putting my life on any cloud or paying subscription to do spreadsheets and write letters. If I want it on the internet I’ll post it here.
Yeah even a 7th Gen Intel processor cannot be used with windows 11.
And Fakebook went down. Odd.
Wait for the second edition with Windows. B, Second Edition, Service Pack 2 etc
Yep sure is..on my 2012 laptop its NOT compatible..but on my 2 yr old Dell it is
Hackers couldn't get through to hack it yet, there always seem to be some program working in the background tying up access to it. The suspected program working in the back ground seems to be a spy program working over time, but might be an update program or either or. Some Hackers have determined it's a waste of time hacking, it doesn't work in the first place.
Just migrated Win 7 64 pro to a new SSD, faster than ever and no updates or spying.
Wait. But Microsoft said that Win10 is the last OS we’ll see.
