Former President Donald Trump has revealed he got Pfizer's COVID vaccine before leaving office - and that he may get a booster shot if he thinks it is necessary.

Trump had not previously announced which vaccine he had received.

The force part of this only became an issue after reluctance/defiance grew. Trump took great pains to get this to the point it could be administered. And he rightfully has tried to take a few victory laps based on his efforts. The problem is there has always been a threshold of the % vaxxed to obtain herd immunity. That woefully fell short. And I believe a substantial amount of reluctance/defiance is because he’s no longer President. He himself has said he’s not been a stronger proponent of the vax because of that very reason. On the other hand, it seems this is beginning to have an effect on the economy again. Which may be impacting his financial interests. And that could be prompting him to be a bit more public with his personal experience.

I am a huge Trump supporter, but I don’t agree with him 100% and this is one area.

I think a lot of folks in his generation have a kind of unquestioning trust in the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies. Maybe because they grew up in an era when medicine was based on science. So much has changed as politics, power, and money have tainted healthcare at the highest levels.

I have seen the negative effects of this blind trust with my in-laws and parents. Particularly with my mother-in-law who had 8 different doctors and was taking 20 different medications - and never questioned any of it. Some of the meds were duplicate treatments as well as contraindicated for her. For years we tried to get her to get a second opinion as she had so many different symptoms, but she trusted her many docs and refused.

When she moved near us, we set her up with one, great internist and it turns out all of her ills were due to stage 4 lung cancer, that had spread to her spine, kidneys, and brain. He estimated she had the cancer for many years.

I have heard this repeated so many times with others, their parents won’t get second opinions or look at the meds they take because they just trust medicine, no matter the source. Many think the CDC is the gold standard and you cannot convince them otherwise.

The California study finds that vaccinated individuals are more susceptible to COVID variant infections than unvaccinated.  Geer Vanden Bossche has been warning that vaccine antibodies would suppress natural antibody responses.  The vaccine antibodies take control of the immune system and defend only against a targeted virus.

Among vaccinated individuals, a COVID variant virus is not recognized by the specialized antibodies provided by the vaccine, and the natural antibodies have been programmed to stand down.

(MedRxiv) Associations between vaccine breakthrough cases and infection by SARS coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants have remained largely unexplored. Here we analyzed SARS-CoV-2 whole-genome sequences and viral loads from 1,373 persons with COVID-19 from the San Francisco Bay Area from February 1 to June 30, 2021, of which 125 (9.1%) were vaccine breakthrough infections. Fully vaccinated were more likely than unvaccinated persons to be infected by variants carrying mutations associated with decreased antibody neutralization.

Be careful around vaccinated people, because they can carry a more resistant form of COVID-19.  Additionally, the highly specialized antibodies in the vaccine create a need for a booster for each antibody resistant variant.  Israel is already on booster #2.

Dr. Vanden Bossche has been using Israeli data and showing how the widespread vaccination rates were creating pressure on the virus to mutate into variants with higher levels of contagion. The unvaccinated group has been keeping the pressure down by defeating the virus and carrying natural immunity. However, as the unvaccinated population is increasingly made smaller, the pressure on the virus to mutate increases. Subsequently, these mutations stay at higher or more effective levels of infection.

Israel is already on its second round of booster shots.

The long term impacts of antibody dependency are unknown.  Some doctors and scientists are already worried that normal cancer fighting antibodies will become dormant and we could see an explosion of unusual cancer clusters due to antibody suppression caused by the COVID vaccines.

Remember, no one knows exactly what this targeted vaccine will do to the overall human immune system as it responds to other viruses or infections.  The vaccinated population are the human trial subjects, and the unvaccinated population are the control group.

In the U.K. data study there were:

157,400 Delta variant cases amid the fully vaccinated (26.52% of total cases), and 257,357 Delta variant cases amid the unvaccinated (43.36% of total cases).  However, when it came to severe outcomes 63.5% of deaths were from the fully vaccinated group.  [source]

My m-i-l was on duplicate meds from different doctors who didn’t carefully investigate what she was already on before writing her a prescription and when someone finally sat down and went through them all, we were able to pare her meds list down to about half.

I think you are right about the older generation, since they lived in a day when the medical community still overall had some integrity.

Can’t say that any more.

I don’t trust them at all, and that’s a combination between my mostly negative experience with a vast number of doctors and this mast cell thing, and watching and reading the news for the last year and a half.

I feel so sorry for her/you.

My best friend was born in 1944, and she was of the generation where doctors were just one level under God. She’d had breast cancer in her 30s, and licked it. Then in around 2016 she started feeling not well and her doctor said it was “just” arthritis, and/or a few other annoying but not critical things.

She trusted him and believed him. We sat across a quilting frame six hours a week and I could tell that she was not improving. “Are you OK?” “I’m fine.” “The hell you are! You are NOT fine!” This went on for a year.

Then ... ding ding ... she saw an oncologist. Breast cancer had metastasized everywhere. Her last year on earth was dreadful.

But believe the doctor, no matter what. I guess I’m that same generation, but I don’t fall for everything as many do. These last two years have been a huge eye-opening experience when it comes to politics v. medicine.

I am not sure I would go that far regarding threshold for "herd immunity".

Sweden has achieved a "herd immunity" though it is easy to search and see that all of the usual state-aligned sources and media do all they can to throw shade on that characterization and state it is misleading or false (such as 'differences exist in how herd immunity is defined', etc.)

But the fact is, as of today, Sweden has 63% "fully vaccinated" and the USA has 56% "fully vaccinated". Yet they never closed the country, destroyed their economy, impacted the learning and futures of their children, and impinged on their populations freedoms the way many countries have including the USA and Australia.

I think it is terrible that people, some weak minded, some sick, some ideologically inclined, and some who simply go along with all this are used as tools to further an agenda.

People who are elderly SHOULD fear this pathogen, ESPECIALLY if they have co-morbidities. They should take appropriate action as they see fit.

This makes me angry. I know so many people who are terrified because of the media and government fear-mongering. A number of those people have the capability to think independently on it, but...they still trust the media and the government to tell them the truth, with appropriate context.

I would have to disagree in that I don’t think we did give those up.

We may have made that choice for children in school, but we didn’t do it for adults, able to make their own decisions, to cause them to get fired from their jobs and be unable to work in their field and provide for their families.

I will also say, I completely understand hysteria around polio, just as one example-while the fatality rate may not have been huge, the likelihood that it disproportionally affected young people with a lifelong, often severely crippling (if not death) outcome that would involve a expensive and constant intensive medical care ranging from total paralysis and life in an iron lung to selected loss of motor control.

I don’t blame parents for being frantic wanting a vaccine and solution to polio. I just do not view COVID on the same plane in any way.

I think if it is provided, and people want to get it, that should be their decision.

I think there are enough questions regarding efficacy, unknown side effects, use of fetal tissue in their development, etc. where people may have justification for saying they would rather take their chances with a pathogen that if you are in the 50-59 year old range, is as likely to cause your death as being killed in a pedestrian accident.

I think people should be allowed to make that choice, not forced to make the choice to get it or keep a job, be allowed to travel, or any other of a number of things they want to punish people with.
