Which comes first--the bitterness or the liberalism? (survey/Vanity)

After watching a video of that climate-change girl, I felt moved to post an informal survey about the liberal mindset. I'd love to know Freepers' thoughts on the following questions: 1. Does a bitter mindset lead a person to become a leftist? OR 2. Does leftist ideology lead a person to become bitter? OR 3. Neither?

Number two, if anything. One can be bitter and not be a leftist, depending on treatment by others.

And frankly, the kid is brainwashed anyway. She hasn’t specifically expressed a desire to abolish families, private property, religion and national borders; it’s just confusion at this time for her.

I was a liberal as a child and young woman because my parents were, no bitterness necessary.

I became more conservative because I was pro- life from the moment I learned about abortion, unlike my parents, and because I decided human beings were not naturally good, and needed sticks as well as carrots.

It's 4: Both.

That’s an interesting question. For most liberals, I think it’s #2: Leftist ideology leads a person to become bitter.

Conservatives have a realistic view of the world. But for whatever reason, liberals have an unrealistic, almost childlike view of the world. And when their impossible dreams don’t come true, they become bitter.

And in extreme cases, their bitterness leads to mass murder. (Yes, Mao Tse-tung, I’m talking about you. But you’re certainly not the only example.)

A clarification to my post #6. I’m talking about modern liberals/leftists. They are darn near fascists. And that’s quite unlike the liberals of old.

I think they were the same.

“Frankly, the kid is brainwashed anyway.”

Wow...the whole brainwashing thing throws an interesting wrench in the whole question. There’s a charter school near here where kids walk around with school-issued BLM shirts and shirts with the slogan “Climate change is real.” I’d be curious to know what these students’ lives will be like 10 years after they graduate.

Liberalism begins with self-loathing for poor personal choices and failure, the proceeds to neuroticism.

From there they continue with placing blame on everything but the source of their anxiety...themselves.

Then they adopt or create an ideology that allows them to feel superior to what they perceive to be the cause of their troubles, and because they are “superior” they believe it is their calling to control everyone and everything around them. They become powerful in a world where they actually can’t compete with anyone on an equal footing.

I agree.

Liberals often seem to consider themselves to be victims. They blame the world for that, and get angry. Conservatives, on the other hand, understand that taking responsibility for your own situation is the mature way to go.

“What was Karl Marx first?”

At the risk of sounding a bit nutty, I’d have to say he was a semi-satanist. This is backed by Dr. Kengor—and, more importantly, by Marx’s own writing, particularly some of his “poetry.”

I have a different theory and I will say that I have done quite a bit of thinking about it as I have a family member who is about as liberal as Elizabeth Warren.

Several years ago I came to the conclusion that the dim party does not make people crazy although many believe that it does.

My theory was and is that since people are slaves to their genes, some people do not have the proper gene, or maybe it is mutated, that enables them to distinguish between right and wrong, ethical and unethical, and possibly another gene which gives them the power to act in the proper way even when they do recognize the right way,

So it is not that the dim party drives it members to be what they are. Rather it is the opposite. Those who join the dim party do so because they are lacking the gene that enables them to recognize good character.

A year or so ago I ran across an article describing a research project in which, based on the same theory that I have, subjects where sorted into groups based on their gene makeup.

I can’t remember all of the details and failed to keep the link, but basically they had a group with the right genes, a group with the mutant gene...and there was a second gene involved.

They presented the groups with a series of questions of varying degrees of complexity and seriousness.

They found that those with the right gene always made the proper decision. Those with the faulty gene made the wrong decisions, some definitely totally wrong, some subjects right on some of the choices and wrong on others and a few of the subjects not able to make decisions.

Thus their conclusions were similar to my guesswork theory.

That is really the only way that you can have a John Wayne Gacy and a Clarence Thomas in the human race.

It also explains why some evil people can not be rehabilitated.

I wish I had the link to that study. Freepers are so good at filling in the blanks that possibly one will have seen the same study and will furnish the link.

The first is learned bitterness then the two feed each other.

This appears to be an abbreviated synopsis of the study I refer to.

I can’t find the full version.

First is the acceptance of being a victim. Then the scheming starts.

I was a center left Nixon Democrat at fourteen. A Reagan Democrat at eighteen. Wasn’t bitter. Couldn’t stand Ford. Carter, Jerry Brown, and Rose Bird turned me into a raging right winger.
