An intruder was mauled to death by a pair of dogs after breaking into a Georgia home last week, according to local authorities.
The homeowner, who was not named, discovered the body of 21-year-old Alex Binyam Abraha on his front porch around 10:30 am on September 24.
Authorities said Abraha successfully entered the two-bedroom house in a rural area of Newnan the night before, and was immediately greeted by two pit bulls inside the home.
The sheriff’s department initially called in homicide investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation thinking that Abraha's death was a murder.
However, the medical examiner eventually determined he died from injuries sustained during the dog attack.
Fox News reports that the homeowner told authorities he did not know Abraha nor did he know how he got in, adding the man had no reason to be inside the house.
Both dogs were seized as a part of the investigation by the county's Department of Corrections. As of Friday afternoon, it was not immediately clear what will happen to them.
Pictures of both dogs were tweeted by Doug Evans, a journalist with local Fox affiliate WAGA-TV.
Abraha, who grew up in Worthington, Minnesota, had several active warrants in Fulton County at the time of his death, Fox News reports.

This is just a heart warming story until I got to the place where they impounded the dogs and have not decided what to do with them.

If you cannot have a k-9 to protect your home, then all dogs must be put down!!!! Even your little Jack Russell. Even the smallest dog with teeth must be executed. BS. The man had a right to own his dogs and they were locked up safely INSIDE his home and not out running loose. While inside THEIR territory, those dogs are property locked up, safely away from any other humans. The damned crook got his @$$ torn up while breaking in. What are the dogs suppose to do when he broke in, dial 9-1-1, hide under the bed, run out of the house barking in fear??? Nope, I’d vote not guilty on the homeowner and leave his dogs alone. They did nothing but attack some guy in the dark that they did not know. Sad results for the bad guy and his family, but I don’t blame the home owner.

Funny you mention a Jack Russell. Can you imagine the destruction if some scientist found a way to put a Jack Russell brain into a Pit Bull’s body?
Years ago, a friend of mine was in the market for a second dog. We went to the pound, and looked around. He’d been impressed with my pig’s intelligence and good behavior, so he wasn’t put off by the thought of a pit. This was when they were getting a lot of bad press. He found a large black dog with a block-head, and went and asked the attendant about her. He said she’d come in that morning, and was “black lab and something else,” skirting the P word. My friend said, “Yeah, it’s the ‘something else’ that I’m looking for.“

That is such a brilliant statement that if I knew the address of the person who wrote it I’d post it at the exit to the local jail with their comments and wish them good luck.
Let’s hope they do it again in the same or similar circumstances. They are guard dogs. This is what they do. If someone does not want to meet them, don’t break in the house they are guarding. Easy and not hard to understand.
