A shocking new poll from the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia reveals that over half of Trump voters surveyed, and 41% of Biden voters, are in favor of blue and/or red states seceding from the union. Yeah, it’s gotten that bad.
The idea that the nation’s political divide has become so toxic that we should prepare from some sort of “national divorce” has largely been left to clever thought experiments best left for dinner parties and ironically detached columns. However, we’ve now arrived at a point where more than half of Trump voters “somewhat agree” that the time for secession is nigh.
From the Center for Politics report:
Significant numbers of both Trump and Biden voters show a willingness to consider violating democratic tendencies and norms if needed to serve their priorities. Roughly 2 in 10 Trump and Biden voters strongly agree it would be better if a “President could take needed actions without being constrained by Congress or courts,” and roughly 4 in 10 (41%) of Biden and half (52%) of Trump voters at least somewhat agree that it’s time to split the country, favoring blue/red states seceding from the union.
The report continues by examining the broad political dissolution felt by members of both parties (emphasis mine.):
— On one hand, roughly 80% of Trump and Biden voters view democracy as preferable to any non-democratic kind of government.
— On the other hand, more than 6 in 10 Trump and Biden voters see America as less a representative democracy and more a system that is run by and rigged for the benefit of the wealthy.
— Overall, more than two-thirds support — and one-third strongly — emboldening and empowering strong leaders and taking the law into their own hands when it comes to dealing with people or groups they view as dangerous.
— And their willingness to consider violating democratic tendencies and norms extends beyond the hypothetical and to a dangerous and alarming finding: Roughly 2 in 10 Trump and Biden voters — or more than 31 million Americans — strongly agree it would be better if a “President could take needed actions without being constrained by Congress or courts” (as extrapolated from the results of this survey). Roughly 4 in 10 (41%) of Biden and half (52%) of Trump voters at least somewhat agree that it’s time to split the country, favoring blue/red states seceding from the union.
A shocking YouGov poll in June found that 66% of Republicans in southern states want to secede from the United States. That survey, which was done in conjunction with BrightLineWatch, looked at the current political climate in America. The most stunning question concerned support or opposition for the state in which respondents lived in “seceding from the United States to join a new union with [list of states in new union]?”
President Joe Biden largely ran on a platform of reunification, and despite an effective six first months of largely positive approval ratings, recent missteps in Afghanistan, and a resurgence of Covid infections, which is — ironically, largely due to a large percentage of Trump supporters refusal to get a vaccine — have led to his approval being underwater.
For instance, opening the borders during a pandemic, the Afghanistan, debacle, shutting down the economy for 18 months instead of 15 days, sending as many jobs as possibly overseas, spending money that will bankrupt the country, etc....
It’s better than letting the commies take over by hook and crook via cheating.

Why do the red states need to secede? They believe in America. Instead of seceding, just banish the blue states from the union, Declare them as Mexico’s most northern province.

Absolutely! Border were designed to control liberals from entering into countries that wanted to remain free.
Basically the Democratic Party wants to be the CCP of the United States of America. I think that is what is happening here. If it was not for that, I think things would be okay. Not sure where it began but everything had accelerated with the election of Obama although you could see roots of all of this all the way back to when Bork was rejected as the Justice to the Supreme Court due to reasons sorely related to partisanship.
We have a process to ADD states?
Why don’t we have a process ( albeit with HIGHER THRESHOLDS ) for sates to LEAVE if a super-majority of people within them WANT to leave?

So far, I’ve not seen ONE state or one state’s governor/politicians who are are willing to forfeit federal financial in order to defy unconstitutional federal regulations.

I don’t see much of a secession at this point. Maybe if all the Patriots moved to one or two states that were next to each together - but I think it would be a losing fight.
Instead, Patriots need to band together to do whatever it takes to DISMANTLE the unconstitutional portion of the federal government. Attack, don’t retreat.

I believe America is dead as we knew it. Most likely it’ll morph into the American Empire. It’ll be some sort of one party oligarchy.
I am one that thinks this is the best option at this point. Should be damn obvious voting republican won’t stop the Marxists. At least we’d have chance this way.
Who would secede, and how does it work?
For example, would a conservative state such as Wyoming secede? Or would a liberal state such as Vermont secede? Would states secede individually, or group together when a big group secede, as happened when the Confederacy was formed? As i recall, those states seceded one by one, and then formed the Confederacy.
But is there a clean liberal/conservative split among states that is realistic? For example, Illinois is a conservative state when you get outside the Chicago area. Michigan is conservative when you get outside Detroit. Much of upstate New York is quite conservative. New York City and environs is what makes New York a “blue” state.
So if a liberal state seceded, there would be huge numbers of conservatives in most of those states trapped behind enemy lines, so to speak.
It’s not shocking that one group doesn’t want to be bullied and robbed by another group.
Half of the country is conservative, and half of the country is neo Marxist. Of course those two camps cannot coexist.
Well, those Trump voters must believe that the communists would then leave us alone.

When Republicans regain Congress in 2022, we will see Biden Administration use Executive Powers even more. And they will use the Federal Bureaucracy (aka Deep State) to get what they want. Screw Congress. And guess what. Joe Biden will be right.
