There’s drunk, and then there’s this guy.
Search and rescue teams in Turkey were looking in the Bursa region for a man who was reported missing.
Friends of Bayhan Mutlu and area residents joined in the manhunt when another person soon linked up with the search party: The missing man himself.
According to Turkish news channel NTV, once people started calling out Mutlu’s name, he came forward and asked, “Who are we looking for? I’m here.
It is unclear how the 50-year-old came across his own search party, how his friends were unaware their pal was in their midst, or just how wasted Mutlu was, but it’s a happy ending regardless.
The headline alone is a riot! Lol
I did use search but obviously the source and headline were different. I wasn’t as successful as Bayhan.
I want to meet this guy’s life coach.
“I’m 50 years old and I’m still searching for myself.”
“Take Jim Beam with you. Maybe he can help.”
Guy was out and got delayed by some really bad weather.
Came back in to find a search party being organized to find someone lost. Since he had just been over in that area thought he might be able to help. And at some point figured out they were looking for him.
So, if there’s a reward for finding him does he collect I wonder?
I recall reading about someone attending their own funeral.
And it wasn’t Tom Sawyer.
I can see that as a non-zero possibility in my future. I have no problem ignoring my phone. When I'm camping/hiking I sometimes won't check it for several days. Although friends and family should be used to this by now I could see a mis-communication leading to concern... Also when I'm camping I a routinely partake in adult beverages, particularly around a campfire while cooking on cast iron. I'm also a nice guy, if I heard there was a search party forming, I'd grab my pack and radios and join in.
I can see it now:
Random searcher: "Hey, we finally got a picture of the guy we're looking for texted to us... Wait, isn't this that guy over there urinating on the tree? The same guy we've been hiking/searching with for the last hour?"
Now THAT is a bender.
Hope he finds himself.

Sounds to me like the rest of the search party was also drunk off their asses, to not recognize him.

Good old Bayhan. He always knew how to put the party in search party.
