Hi All!
We are finally doing it - fleeing New York State! I haven't posted in forever, so I hope I'm doing this right.
Thank you! As of 11:00am we are officially under contract.
Now I’m getting nervous LOL
Speaking of Syracuse, the airport there has these exit portals since 2013 - I can’t stand them. It feels sinister. You cannot open the doors once you are in there. It’s automated:
“As part of a $60 million renovation this year, the Syracuse airport installed exit portals that passengers must pass through to depart the airport. Passengers enter a see-through, elevator-like enclosure as one door closes behind them, then wait up to a few seconds until a green light flashes and the door in front of them opens to let them out. “You’re not allowed to just leave the airport,’’ Williams reported.”
I have been living in the South for close to 30 years now. Born and raised in Jersey. It is a culture shock but people are much nicer. Even though WV is not a deep south state, it is akin to such. Enjoy your new home.
Why no the great republic of Texas?
Heat and border.
NH USED TO BE a beautifull place. I grew up in Nashua and Wilton but settled in Milford. But this was back in the days of Meldrim Thompson (who was governer) and William Loeb (the then-owner of the Manchester Union Leader... early 70's) before the MassInvasion.
Learn to say “LET’S GO MOUNTAINEERS !”
I grew up in WV, finally came back in 2018 after 37 years.
If your roots are here its always a part of you and you miss it. I tell people I spent part of my professional career scheming to come back. I finally did !
I’ve only been through WV about a dozen or so times, but it was always beautiful.
I’m very ready for something different and less “intense” than our area.
We are so looking forward to our move - though it will be gradual - and getting settled in our new town.
I was just thinking about taking my coffee out to the front porch on nice mornings, sitting on the top step, and just sipping away ...
I grew up in eastern panhandle of WV, it has unfortunately become Meth Virginia. I abandoned numerous friends and relatives because I didn’t want my children exposed to that element. If you can find a nice place in the countryside or mountains... Go For It.. I used to ride my bike to Harpers Ferry, Antietam and Gettysburg. First job a a young teen was doing reinactments in the summer. Also took summer trips to Williamsburg for the theme parks at Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion.. Great times.
Thanks. We would be just barely into the northern panhandle.
Our current area here (rural upstate NY) has suffered much from meth/heroin. I know how it can devastate an area in no time flat.
I went to Kings Dominion when it first opened - I think it must be quite different now. LOL.
“Are you by Blue Mountain?”
yes by roads about 10 miles. The slope lights up the sky all winter long.
