Hi All!
We are finally doing it - fleeing New York State! I haven't posted in forever, so I hope I'm doing this right.
Did you check out Western Pa? I moved out here and love this place.
Congratulations, you will love it.
West Virginia is a beautiful place. I would love to move there back when I used to go there to hunt when I was a kid (35-40) years ago. Where I hunted then is now overrun with people from elsewhere.
Best of luck in your new home, city and state.
Decades ago we escaped from the DC/Fairfax/Va. area.
We were the first of about a dozen families in a fairly new townhouse development to leave and to escape to other states. That area went to hell after MLK was killed and the demos took over.
Many of our friends/neighbors ended up in various W. Virginia cities and basically loved the areas where they moved. Most of them have moved on to be with the lord.
Many of their children are adults with kids or grand kids still loving and living in WV.

I’ve been impressed evrry time i have visited.
Glad you picked WV because FL is a VERY VERY VERY bad horrid place.
What are your specific concerns with NH? I visited Florida earlier in the year — very nice overall but I wouldn’t want to live there.
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breezeCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roadsAll my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eyeCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roadsI hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday, yesterdayCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roadsCountry roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roadsTake me home, (down) country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
I looked a while back. Beautiful state. Liked the free gas.
Yes, we looked around W. PA a bit. While there were a few towns that are nice, Danville being one, the taxes and home prices are kind of up there. Then there is the flooding factor in some of the other towns in W PA we were thinking of. :(
Originally we wanted to settle to Gettysburg. $$$$

[... these are not cats!]
those torrential rain storms! Been through that a few times - scary!

LOL, yeah we do get bad rain storms.
It’s funny what you get use to. The storms don’t even faze me. Although, driving in them is a bit of a challenge.
However, when I was visiting family in Ohio a tornado warning siren went off, and that scared the crap out of me. It didn’t even seem to faze them that much.
I hear that it is almost heaven.
Good luck I retired early and left Houston you won’t regret it 👍🏻
Ahh, John Denver - turned out to be a more interesting fellow than he seemed.
Well I’m out further. Am familiar with Danville and yes it’s a nice community but as said flooding can be a problem now and then....I’m out here north of Pittsburgh.
“ a tornado warning siren went off, and that scared the crap out of me. It didn’t even seem to faze them that much.”
They test the sirens every day at noon here in tornado alley 🌪
Turbacky, corn pone, Bluegrass, and pretty decent, wild folk.
