For me, it was “War of the Worlds”... The “disintegration beam” (or whatever you want to call it) that was on the alien spaceships was shaped just like the streetlight out in front of our house. We had a small window in our front door, and when I looked out at a certain angle, it would appear as if there was an alien ship outside. Imagine my surprise, when visiting the American Armor Foundation (in Danville, VA) as I turned a corner and saw this... https://app.photobucket.com/u/BearCreekMike/p/f1d7c138-11d6-483b-9bce-29bd922cf24a

First horror movie I watched as a little kid was The Ghost And Mr. Chicken. Scared the scat out of me.

I can say the same. Still fondly remember watching this movie as a 7-year-old with my family at a drive-in theater.

I always found it interesting that Vincent Price’s character died in one of his last movies (Edward Scissorhands). He died just a couple years later.

My early scary movie was "Satan's Triangle" from 1975, with Doug McClure and Kim Novak. Weird move with Serling-like twist ending.

I agree. I saw “The Haunting” when I was a kid and I remember not being able to sleep that night I was so scared.

Don’t forget “The Monolith Monsters.”

Also, the classic British sci fi always had a bit of horror in it. Films such as “Five Million Years to Earth” and “Day of the Trifids.”

Yep...and there's plenty more like that. I'm glad I was born when I was. I might be old, and we didn't have a car, but we had plenty of fantastic black and white horror movies at the local theaters we got to see, and wholesome tv shows to keep us entertained...not to mention board games, playing cowboys and Indians, hide and seek, dodge ball, etc. The 50's were a special time.

"Also, An Affair to Remember."

That was another favorite of mine...and my sister's. I loved Deborah Kerr when she was in The King and I. I also liked "The Nun's Story" with Audrey Hepburn. The oldies and classic movies are the best entertainment, far better than most of the crap they make today.

My true fear began when Almira Gulch furiously rode that bicycle in the air, carrying Toto in her basket. It took me off guard. I was 4. It was years years before I could Oz again.

You are so right. Hollywood today is so political; Mel Gibson took so much heat for making “The Passion of the Christ,” one of my favorite movies ever.

Hollywood was probably political way back when, but at least they had the good sense to hide it. As Michael Jordan once said, when asked why he never took a political position, “Both Democrats and Republicans buy shoes.” :)

Thank you! And thank you, Al Gore! LOL.

I was writing on my cell phone and didn’t have the energy to look everything up; nor did I have a pen and paper next to me to write things down. :)

Thanks for the tip! I may have missed it but sometimes they replay it.

Movies are great for rainy days. :)

All the best,
