A significant new find of golden artifacts, many of them with runes in the Elder Futhark, has been uncovered in Denmark.

Check the additional links for bunches of photos, and if you can handle it, modern Danish. This 'tuber's remarks about Etruscan / Greek / Latin are (ahem) highly speculative, but Mary Settegast's speculation that the known runic systems (mostly unread I think) include graffiti among the Ice Age cave paintings in Europe.

Very interesting/. 400 AD
I got quite a start — he streams out of Colorado, and when he started to say “Denmark” I thought he was about to say “Denver”. ;^D
LOL! That WOULD be interesting!
That gold coin shows linear etchings that remind me of the stylized script found in Ireland’s Book of Kells.
The video host is Jackson Crawford. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but he looks part Danish or Norweigian.
The rest of the Gundestrup Cauldron keyword, sorted:
He says he speaks Norwegian, which used to be very similar to Danish, but each has gone off like a fork in the road for the past 700 years or so. Hardraada was king of both, until he got his last owie at the battle of Stanford Bridge in 1066.
Wow. You really know your history. I was not aware of that language split, some 7 centuries ago.
How cool! All I ever find are dog turds.
“It’s a long way from Smørumnedre to Denver...”
It’s supposed to be a John Denver/Colorado joke, but it ain’t working.
I wasn't aware of the profundity of the split until a relative started to learn Norwegian. There are more Norwegian speakers outside of Norway than there are inside of Norway, the ones I've known had either parents or grandparents who were born in Norway. Besides that cool submerged bridge project, other reasons I like Norway include the apparently little-known fact that they're not a member of the EU, and sell the EU about 1/3 of natural gas and a good sized chunk of the EU's oil.
Sounds like those dogs have waaaay too much iron in their diets!
There’s something gotten in the state of Denmark.
Naturally I thought about the Gundestrup Cauldron when I saw this video, then all I could think about was using "Gundestrup" as the main phrase in the AC/DC song "Thunderstruck". Next time ya hear it, you will too. ;^) I didn't think it would work in this topic, but now I've let the kat out of the taske.
LOL
It would have the virtue of never having been tried. :^)
