Duramectin
If you are getting it, make sure you ingest it orally. The applicator makes one assume the horse paste is injected where the sunshine doesn’t shine. Also, be aware that the dose is based upon animal weights. Human weights act differently and you can overdose if you don’t consider the human fudge factor, which I have no clue what it is.
Is your doctor recommending this?
Give me regeneron or give me horse-paste!
And a side of azithromycin...
I don’t think there’s a whole lot of difference between them. I have DurMectin from Durvet which has 250lb marks but it has 5 ridges between each which gives me 50lb increments. The ridges are actually the threads on the plunger for the nut you use to dial in a dose.
My math is for 1.87% paste and 1.83% would be close enough;
1 horse pound = 1 human pound for preventative dose.
2 horse pound = 1 human pound for treatment.
I happen to weight 125 pounds and the horse paste tube is for 1250 pounds which is how that popped out to me. A treatment course is daily for 5 days so I’d use one tube for treatment.
My math is actually Dr Lee Merritt’s math.
While on the subject my order of 100 Ivermectin pills just showed up today from India. I ordered them on Sept. 2 so just under 3 weeks to get them. They are the 6mg variety and cost me $100 including shipping.
I had 20 of the 3mg pills on hand that I got locally but that supply has been cut off. I feel I needed more for the family. I also have the horse paste as a backup that is pictured in the above post number 7.
Some pastes have other stuff along with the Ivermectin, so avoid those.
If all else fails, there are price gougers selling the good stuff on eBay for around 25-35 per tube. Don’t search for the word Ivermectin, search for “horse 1.87%” and you will find it. I think eBay pulls any listing with the word Ivermectin in it, even though it is a perfectly legal product. They sell fast, but new listings keep appearing.
I ordered some just yesterday, for actual horses no less...
A local guy can’t find any and I saw some at a good price and ordered a dozen using my paypal..
Usually the feed stores in this rural area are loaded with the stuff..but it’s just gone.
I just checked and the mail-order place is out too...
I hope the ones I bought have shipped, I need to call them..
They may get more in soon, give them a call...I have never used them before as I usually use Jeffers vet supply... and not so much them as my cows and horses are no more..
It is much, much harder to get in the past month or so.
The key is to make sure that it is ONLY ivermectin and nothing else.
Any of the brand names are fine:
Bimectin, Durvet ect...
However, finding it right now is problematic.
