“Against All Odds,” Phil Collins is soldiering on.
A frail-looking Collins finished his first show with Genesis on the group’s “The Last Domino?” tour in Birmingham Monday night, remaining seated throughout the concert.

Collins, 70, sang all of the evening’s tunes from a chair onstage, though he was not alone in that regard: The group’s guitarist Mike Rutherford also opted to play while perched on a stool at points.

The Birmingham show was the first stop on the band’s farewell tour and their first live performance in 13 years since 2007’s Turn It On Again Tour.
In the latest issue of Mojo, Collins said recently that this will be the final chance to see Genesis in concert. “This English and American tour, that will be enough for me,” he said.
Cover Images Collins has struggled with his health in recent years and has been open about his physical issues heading into this tour.
Asked how he’s been prepping for months of three-hour shows, Collins told the Guardian that he hasn’t: “I don’t do anything at all,” he said. “I don’t practice singing at home, not at all. Rehearsing is the practice. These guys [his band mates] are always having a go at me for not, but I have to do it this way.”

IMHO, Phil’s a better than average singer but was an absolutely AMAZING drummer and a heck of a front man that could command an audience like almost no other.
The final stop of the 2008 tour was in Rome - and they played a free concert to more than 500,000 attendees. Watching the video (which I’ve done a gazillion times as it’s my favorite Genesis concert), it seems like Phil had every single one of those 500K+ people in the palm of his hand.
Reports from last night’s opening show was that Phil is still in prime entertainer form, even if his voice is not quite what it used to be..
It’s like why write a symphony, when there’s already Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, etc.?
“Last night in Little Rock, put me in a haze
Sweet, sweet Connie, doin’ her act
She had the whole show and that’s a natural fact.”
Agreed, I don't know why they do this to themselves and their fans.
I liked Neal Diamond and a number of years back, he went on tour. I heard one of the "attempted" songs from a concert and just shook my head. No voice left at all and he should have been embarrassed.........
Or even Sinatra’s last shows were sad, too. But I suppose as long as people are willing to pony up the dough, why not?
I could care less about washed up Hollywood performers.....
Genesis needed either Phillips or Hackett. When Hackett left...they quickly became something else.
I prefer the Gabriel era too, but Trick of the Tail (esp.) was a good album. Wind and Wuthering also was pretty good. They became poppy after Hackett left.
Post 1979 yes. Pre 1979 Genesis was the most underrated bands of all time.
I actually preferred Phil’s softer singing voice, like on Trick of the Tail.
If you haven’t seen this, check out these videos of Phil from when he was with Flaming Youth.

Let’s just say Genesis was a huge step up for Phil, LOL.
Yeah but even Hackett went pop, too. Remember GTR?
Is he that desperate and broke? This is pathetically embarrassing.
“I could care less”
LOL
I like Duke a lot though, Heathaze is a great song, one of Banks best compositions.
“Only Muslims can do that...............”
I was wondering about that. Do they have to send three emails or can they do it all in one?
Just another day in paradise.
Love “More Fool Me”, also the first song Phil sang for Genesis “For Absent Friends” from Nursery Cryme.
How much less could you care?
I Don’t Care Anymore!
