Internet sleuths claim Gabby Petito’s boyfriend Brian Laundrie is seen reading a book about women who go missing in a video uploaded to the couple’s Youtube travel channel.
Laundrie, who has been named a person of interest in the case, is briefly shown reading what appears to be Jeff VanderMeer’s “Annihilation,” a 2014 novel about four women who venture into the so-called Area X, where three of them die and the fourth stays permanently.

What is with this case? What about all the other gals that have been murdered? Where’s the media on them? Why is she so special as to make national news? Or are they just trying to change the narrative once again?

I thought the same, but I think the media attention rustled up the evidence (helped identify the vehicle location) that actually pinpointed the crime scene.

She was a cute young girl who probably reminded a lot of people of their own daughters. I think what set it apart was the weird circumstance of the boyfriend coming back alone with no comment about the missing girl while his parents apparently shielded him.
Daughters that make stupid choices about scum bag boys and end up dead or punched out.
Daughters that had no solid father mother figures in their lives, Fathers that displayed love and caring for their wives from the daughters day of birth and through out life.
Daughters that see that,live that usually don't choose losers, they choose guys that mirror their decent dads.
Annihilation is a science fiction novel about a female scientist, who is investigating a possible alien anomaly affecting an area around the coastline on earth. Her husband had previously entered the area and had gone missing. It was made into an average movie with Natalie Portman.

Every week our local NYC affiliate TV station posts pictures of mostly young women who have gone missing under the title “ help us find these children”. To me it is pointless as I don’t have any idea what I’d do if I thought I saw one. But it gives measure to the number of missing girls. Mostly runaways I’m sure and many end up like Gabby with no further TV coverage.
She was not a runaway. She was on a cross-country trip with her boyfriend and was documenting it for a blog. So they were very public about what they were doing. The boyfriend returned without her and gave no explanation as to what happened. This made for a more intriguing mystery for a week or so than another runaway disappearing.

Oh, good grief! I read murder mysteries and science fiction all the time. It doesn’t mean I want to murder someone.
Very true. I read a lot of True Crime and WW2 books.
Doesn't make me a potential mass murderer or a Nazi sympathizer.
