Actually "She'd Rather Have Rueben Kincaid" if you were to see the music video.. Rueben Kincaid, manager of the Partridge Family, was obviously a lady-killer and got all the nice-looking women on that show.
This is a Cashman-West song that got a lot of airplay half a century ago.
It was featured on the Partridge Family's blockbuster second album called "Up To Date" and during 1971, you could not turn around without hearing a song from that record.
"I'll Meet You Halfway", "Doesn't Somebody Want To Be Wanted", and "Umbrella Man" were just a few other standout tracks from that magnum opus
It was also a massive hit that year by a band called Heaven Bound (with Tony Scotti) that same year. Except the gender in the song title was changed and so that hit was titled "He'd Rather Have The Rain."
Still a good song. 1971 was probably one of the best years for pop music in the entire 20th Century. I highly recommend the book "Never A Dull Moment" by David Hepworth which was all about the pop music scene of 1971.
The Cowsills provided backing vocals, on this fantastic song by The Smithereens

“1971 was probably one of the best years for pop music in the entire 20th Century.”
Yes it was! I was a pre-teen GLUED to the radio every chance I got. :)
The first albums I got as a kid in 71 were the 2 Partridge Family albums, and Paul McCartney’s “Ram” album.
That was my sister’s favorite Partridge Family song. She had the album and a big David Cassidy poster on her wall.
NO... I don’t do the Partridge’s.
I cried myself to sleep one night because my mother wouldn’t let me go to Hollywood to meet Susan Dey. It is one of my most vivid childhood memories. I was certain Susan would fall for me, a 10-year-old boy, if I could just get my chance!
I like ABBA myself : )

Actually, your “Laugh-in” lunch box is more valuable than “Campus Queen”. I’m surprised. $112 vs. $68.
his love interest was played by the late Nancy Malone;

It’s amazing how well those old Monkee’s songs hold up.
Today's hits: "I'll Jab You All the Way," "Doesn't Somebody Want to Be Quarantined," and "Spiked Protein Man."
