I don't know why, but when I think of the Partridge Family I immediately go to The Cowsills. Here they are from 2017, and when they perform Hair, it is very solid.

You likely knew this. The Cowsills were supposed to be Partridge Family and the show is basically based on them. They had a contract dispute because the band wanted their mother Barbara cast as their mother since she was in the band. The producers had already casted Shirley Jones. They do have a live video singing "I really want to know you". This was long after Barbara had passed. Also passed were two of the brothers the oldest and a younger one who died in NOLA during Katrina. Here's a great version of Hair with alternate last verse.

Around that age, I actually penned a letter to Reuben Kincaid asking to join the band. I thought I could be a much better drummer than Chris with a little practice.

I had visions of the Partridge Family bus pulling in front of my house to take me on tour with them.

I received in reply (about 8 weeks later) an invitation to join the Partridge Family fan club with a glossy photo of Keith Partridge. I gave the photo to my sister and never joined the fan club. I wanted to be in the band!
