The boyfriend of a Long Island woman who mysteriously disappeared during their cross-country trip posted a cryptic message about his belle on Instagram last year.
“My biggest fear is that one day I’ll wake up and it will have all been a dream, because that is what every second has felt like since the moment we found each other,” Brian Laundrie wrote in July 2020 about Gabby Petito.
“Til death do us part or until I wake up,” he continued in the post. “I’m so happy the answer was yes. Love you hunny.”
Petito, 22, was reported missing by her mother, Nicole Schmidt, on Saturday. She is believed to have last been in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park in late August as part of her trip with Laundrie, her boyfriend of about 2 1/2 years.

hopefully shes being held “for safe keeping” (of the drugs he transported) and not dead. hopefully she turns up alive soon
I don’t think that message is cryptic but I do think he killed her.
I think she OD’d and he freaked out.
I always wonder that. One article - one - that I’ve read has explained how one person managed to pay for her van odyssey: She created a photography business and sold it for a lot of money, so bought a high-tech van in which she embarked on her nonstop vacation. And it was pretty pricey. There is a proliferation of these stories: “They just camped and camped; they were always camping and going places. Now one or both of them is dead.” (I was going to make a tasteless joke about someone with a real grudge against these constant vacationers, but - wait a minute, I just did!)
If she did not meet her demise at his hands, I’ll be very surprised.
If “til death do us part” is cryptic, then Christian wedding vows are cryptic. He was saying that as a response to her accepting his marriage proposal. There’s plenty of other stuff to make anyone suspicious of the guy - like returning alone from the trip but not reporting her missing and then lawyering up immediately.
He turns up back in Florida, and won’t co-operate with authorities. Left the van out there.
It would take some convincing to get me off the “he did it” bandwagon. Anything’s possible, but some things seem more likely than others. Such a beautiful girl, too, which may account for why he might have lost his mind if she told him she was moving on.
If Nancy Grace were still around, she’d be running this every day for the next year.
No...he killed her. And then he freaked out drove all the way back to Mommy and Daddy’s house so they could hire a lawyer for him.
boy, between this and the lawyer deal in South Carolina a lot of mystery and subterfuge.
Brian Laundrie’s Smart Phone, the SUV’s GPS, and his smartass social media posts will be his undoing.
And people think they are ‘smart’ because they have a ‘smart phone’ to tell them all they need to know.
Nancy Grace is still around on Fox.
I would not be surprised if she is investigating this right now.
This could be the next Natalie Holloway story.
Well, for sure that is the way to bet, but there are other, more remote possibilities.
I thought of Gretchen first. This would be the lead story every night for months.
Speculation on both our parts. Hopefully she just ran off, but I highly doubt it.
