Good evening Freepers
As some of you might know, I am a federal employee and I work at a military installation in the central USA.
With all of the talk of vaccine mandates everyone has been on edge. Many are pissed, but the vast majority are scared of what is happening not only in the world, this nation, but locally as well.
Today, members of the military here received their “marching order” sort to speak. What follows is the directive that came down from local leadership. It’s been edited to eliminate names and items that could be considered sensitive information, but I think you’ll get the jist of what is happening to our military members:
To ensure we meet expectations directed from higher headquarters and get members vaccinated, I want to have a gathering in the afternoon on Sunday. This assembly will be an answer and question session for all to participate in, and we will answer any questions not covered previous to today. We will also cover a written order that will be issued this Sunday to members present who have not been vaccinated. In addition, those who are presently undecided must now decide whether to volunteer to get either the J&J or Moderna vaccines. If military members want to retire instead of getting the vaccine, they need to submit an application for retirement by COB Sunday with a retirement date of December 2nd. They will be excused from duty until then. If any date later than 2 Dec is chosen, the vaccination is required.
We want to guarantee our members know we value their health and welfare. They must also understand we are a military organization. We have been given an order and will carry that out.
As I said, I cut out some verbiage so it won’t give away my location or the military installation I work at, but the message is clear; you either get the jab or you’re out. It’s that simple. This is the world that Biden has created. He said he would not mandate vaccinations, and he lied! I want that punk of a man brought up on charges of lying to the American population, but of course we know that’s the native tongue for most politicians.
And wildfires, blizzards and ice storms. :)
After several years of downsizing at the company I worked for in the Cleveland area, my job in industrial automation was finally eliminated. That was a few weeks after 9/11. After working a few temporary or low paying jobs, we finally retired and moved here in the Texas panhandle. My parents were retired over in New Mexico so that's the primary reason for settling here. It's been good but definitely not for everybody. There's a lot of space, 26 counties in the TX panhandle and only one moderately sized city (Amarillo) of about 200k. It has pretty good medical facilities and a pretty good VA hospital. Something to think about as we get older. Still, some people travel to Houston for some medical procedures. That's a two day drive for us, all of it in Texas.
The summers are still pretty hot. I'm looking forward to this one ending. It's supposed to hit 105 today. Of course, that will be a record high.
Blizzards and ice storms are half the fun! Can do without the wildfires though. :-)
Seriously though, since it is just me here I can pick up and move if the need arises, and it's looking like that might happen soon. If I can find some little burg out in the middle of nowhere that's not overrun by illegals and liberals, it would be worth it.
While I like working where I am, as far as the people I associate with and the work I do, and while most everyone (except for a couple of stinkers) think the world of me, but it just goes to show that one person can completely alter someone's destiny and the new commander here has done just that. Lots of folks, including me, miss the previous one. But I also know that God holds the reigns and though I am a bit nervous about what the future holds, I'm not afraid. If I have to leave out of here with my laptop, clothing, personal items and essential records, I'm up for it. Just gotta have a destination lined up.
Thanks for sharing.
