Authorities in India's southern Kerala state are racing to contain an outbreak of the Nipah virus. The virus, which is not related to the coronavirus behind the current global pandemic and is far more deadly, killed a 12-year-old boy in Kerala over the weekend, prompting stepped-up efforts to trace his contacts. New infections have been confirmed.
The boy was admitted to a hospital a week ago with high fever. As his condition worsened and doctors suspected inflammation of his brain (encephalitis), his blood samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology, where tests confirmed a Nipah infection. He died early on Sunday.

There were outbreaks in 2018 and 2019, but now it is easier to scare us.

50% - 75% of those who contract the virus will die. THAT is a statistic that should strike fear. Not the 0.3% chance of COVID.

That means the chances of it spreading widely (on its own) are about nil.

“Spread typically requires direct contact with an infected source.[3]”
From wiki. Bats, pigs and raw date palm sap for some reason.

This may sound like a stupid question but is it similar to Ebola or other hemorrhagic viruses?

Nipah virus (NiV) was first discovered in 1999 following an outbreak of disease in pigs and people in Malaysia and Singapore. This outbreak resulted in nearly 300 human cases and more than 100 deaths, and caused substantial economic impact as more than 1 million pigs were killed to help control the outbreak.

Yes, it should, but I would still be leery if they came out with a mRNA vaccine for it.I’m guessing that if they did come out with a normal vaccine for it, they would sneak the nRNA vaccine in with it.

To: backwoods-engineer
Give them Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. Along with a good old fashioned blood letting.
Or a heavily diluted tincture of deadly nightshade. If that won't cure them, I don't know what will.
