TUMON, Guam — Passport: check. Coronavirus test: negative. Temperature: normal.
Wearing an N95 mask and face shield, Jimmy Lin lugged his bag full of instant noodles and beachwear out of Guam’s modest airport one recent afternoon...
...Like thousands of Asian tourists who have visited this American outpost in the Pacific since early this summer, Lin was in Guam to get his preferred coronavirus shots — Pfizer-BioNTech’s messenger-RNA doses — under a vaccine tourism initiative designed to offset pandemic losses....
...“I’m a vaccine snob,” said Lin, who got his first Pfizer shot on Aug. 3 through Guam’s government-sponsored “vacation and vaccination,” or AirV&V, program, paying $100 for one dose. “Here in Guam I can choose the vaccine I want at an affordable price, but back in Taiwan, all I could do was wait for whatever is available, at who knows when.”...

Really sad. Hope he makes it home alive, and somehow beats the odds.
Thousands? I hope they don’t let in too many at once. If they drown, would they be considered Covid deaths?
I have no problem with people who want to get vaccinated. When the government steps in and says “get vaccinated or else” that’s where the problems start.

Will this tip the island?
If you call yourself any kind of “snob”, you’re actually just a pretentious douche.
“...I’m a vaccine snob,” said Lin,”
Ain’t Jimmy special...
My daughter and her USMC unit are in Guam right now. She says it’s nice.
“Vaccination” and “mandatory” go together like a horse and carriage.
The Pfascists just can’t leave any pennies on the table.
Well, that is good to know.
What is the preferred local food?
The Marines are staying in a resort, so they’re getting regular hotel meals, and also booze. Locally, it looks like you can get chicken, beef, pork, or fish cooked up with rice.
Yes, and they could flip the island!…
Likely won’t hit him until long after he’s home again.
Every booster will be another trip and another and another.
Nice weather, nice people usually aren't found in one package. But they are on Guam.
I was stationed there with the Air Force for 2 1/2 years in the late 70’s/early 80’s. It was a nice place and I liked it a lot. I wish I had made more of my time there. I knew one old buck sergeant who got there after Vietnam and had managed to stay there past the standard 2 year assignment. He bought several houses there and planned on retiring there. The people were nice and the beaches were pristine and beautiful. The local food was great (kind of like Filipino food), but being an American territory you could get just about any American food you wanted, especially on base if you were military.
Dont let anyone BS you. Its been Spam, rice and Lite Beer since the 1940’s.
Dang! You sound like a conservative!
At one time this used to be a conservative site. The pandemic exposed a lot of pretenders.
