(Detroit Free Press/TNS) - Sky-high transaction prices and near nonexistent discounts for new and used cars — due to scarce vehicle stock — will be the new normal for the next couple of years.

That’s even after the shortage of semiconductor chips abates, which is expected to start later this year and take all of next year as a recovery period, industry experts say.

“We may never see normal in the near future or we’ve redefined normal,” said Jeff Schuster, LMC Automotive’s president of Americas Operations and Global Vehicle Forecasts.

I pray that the 2022 mid-terms will be an absolute Bloodbath for the dems. I pray the same thing for RINO’s but, to date other than those retiring I don’t know of many serious challenges to them.

Shouldn’t we all acknowledge that globalism and “free trade” has been a total failure?

Over the past five or six years I’ve had my SUV I’ve put in about $3000 which isn’t bad considering entailing what another used car would cost, picking up someone elses problems. Used cars with over a hundred grand on the clock are going for ten grand or more.

I live in the High Sierra of California and I get people asking me all the time if I want to sell it. Only 87,000 miles on it.

My old beater needs it’s 200,000 maintenance. Brakes, timing belt, shocks, suspension, tranny flush. Basically all the stuff. I’m feeling lazy so I’m going to pay someone to do it to the tune of about $4000. I was going to just finally buy a difference, newer, SUV of truck but same here. Vehicles OLDER than mine with more miles are going for ridiculous prices. Just for fun I looked at new Toyota Tacomas. $55k + for that thing.

YAY BIDEN!!! All the expense of a millionaire lifestyle with none of the benefits.

Ditto...My 2003 Buick Century only has 74,000 miles. Too bad it’s so rusty...but I’ll live with it and just pretend I’m driving a BMW. Us old folks can do that.

Payday is tomorrow and I also need to top off a couple of gas cans as well.

I hope to have some powder coating coming back soon.

Money is tight extra tight now so I chip away where I can, buy what’s possible for later, and try to stay patient.

If the idiots at work could go a day or two without breaking something or having to be shown again how to use outlook or print or function in general, I could work from home and do a little more for myself and not be so fried at the end of the day.

I filled up the other day too, two vehicles. It was over $4 a gallon everywhere, and some near $5.

If something happens in the Persian Gulf, it’s going to get interesting.

I just sold a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 for 40% more than I paid for it 18 months and 10,000 miles ago, and I’ll be saving over $1200/yr on insurance on it.
