The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is asking those not vaccinated against COVID-19 to refrain from traveling during Labor Day weekend.
“First and foremost, if you are unvaccinated, we would recommend not traveling,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during the White House COVID-19 Response Team Briefing on Tuesday.
Data from Johns Hopkins University found that the U.S. is surpassing an average of 160,000 new cases a day, CNN reported.
Walensky also warned that all people need to consider the risks before traveling.
Many people are still expected to travel for the long weekend.
“As summer comes to a close, travel volumes around Labor Day are expected to remain high,” AAA spokesperson Julie Hall told Conde Nast Traveler.
But this might include last minute bookings, more solo trips or road trips, TripAdvisor told the website.
“The last-minute booking trend really emerged last year as a response to COVID-19 and travelers taking their time to make decisions on where and when to go, if at all,” Mel Dohmen, Orbitz’s senior brand manager, told Conde Nast. “Refundable and flexible booking options have helped travelers return to normal a bit.”

July 30 (UPI) -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday released data showing that vaccinated people are at increased risk for COVID-19 infection with the Delta variant and that they can spread the disease nearly as easily as unvaccinated people.
Nearly 75% of COVID-19 cases connected with large gatherings on Cape Cod in Massachusetts occurred in people fully vaccinated against the virus, according to data published Friday by the CDC.

They clearly say that vaccinated people are at an increased risk (vs. unvaccinated people) at getting Delta and can spread Delta just as easily as unvaxxed.
They openly contradict themselves all the time now.

Cdc apparently has no connection with actual science. If they had, their warning would be only for people who never recovered from a Covid infection, people with obesity, and people with vitamin d deficiency.
Vaccination makes little difference to any spread. And the elderly and immune deficient won’t be traveling.
