You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days.  If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

About 10 minutes. I figured out enough two-letter words to get the third word, and it was easy after that.

1:58.82 Probably spent 0:59 working on the author's name, and got it wrong, to boot!

Theme of the puzzle and how the search for the author felt.

Correction 1:59.82 (honest) and still spent almost half trying to get the author’s name. And still got it wrong. Not at all hard otherwise, just take the first two words for what is obvious.

First three words by inspection, which gave me everything but the last letter of the author’s name.

Hmmm, ‘long-time feminist activist’, huh? I wouldn’t take too much stock in what she says then, not that I can make much sense out of this quotation anyway. I guess it took me longer than it should have, (3:46) with all it’s 2-letter words, because it makes so little sense, plus I had never heard of this nut.

PU PD at the beginning of a quote is always the same...the rest followed easily.

All but the last letter of the author’s last name in 80-90 sec.

Letter pattern gives first letter of first 2 words.
Letter pattern gives 3rd word.
That allows completion of words 1, 2, 4, and 5.

Off to the races.
