Any suggestions on a book about Grant? He seems like a very interesting guy and a pretty amazing general. Don’t know if he was such a good President.
I’m partial to “Grant,” by Jean Edward Smith. I also have the Chernow bio, which is more recent and was well received by critics and public.
What do you like about “Grant,” by Jean Edward Smith?
It is well written and in a succinct chronological manner that makes it easy to fit on a timeline for serialized posting here.
I understand the locals pronounce it Kay-ro, Illinois.
His memoir.
Thanks. I’m not sure if his memoirs are as good or accurate as “Grant,” by Jean Edward Smith. Sometimes I think an autobiography may not be as objective as a well-researched, documented, and written biography.
