N-Acetyl Cysteine question

Posted on 08/30/2021 7:30:38 AM PDT by far sider

My 16 year old has learning disabilities related to a genetic condition (nf). He took part in a double blind study of NAC over the summer at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. We don't know if he got the drug or the placebo and we don't know the dosage. But he seemed to improve noticeably when he was doing the study and I am considering getting more NAC for him. Can anyone tell me what a good dosage would be? And what is a good source to buy from?

Also I just saw a comment on FR that NAC was good to tinnitus. My tinnitus which was already bad has worsened since I got covid last December, so I want to try it as well. Any knowledgeable advise would be appreciated.

You are getting N-Acetyl-Cysteine mixed up with Acetyl-L-Carnitine which has altogether different properties. It is a good idea to always properly identify what you reading or writing!! As sometimes one item may help you while another one sounding very similar may be detrimental to your health.

Be glad you have not noticed any changes which means you have not had any problems which need to be addressed. Similar to taking an aspirin, you may take it to get rid of a headache and and after that the headache may be gone. If you don’t have a headache of course you will not notice any effects. And while we are at NAC N-Acetyl-Cysteine and NOT Acetyl-L-Carnitine always remember to take at least two to three times as much C otherwise it could do more harm than good. Check my previous post about some detailed info about NAC. Stay healthy and well my friend.

Pardon, but where did I get these mixed up? I am fully aware they are not the same.

I’ve used NAC to break up the mucous in my sinuses for years. I’m an adult but I take 500 to 1000 mg a day when I’m taking it. I think it’s pretty safe.

There is some kind of absorption issue with Glutathione so I bought this last year

The newer S-Acetyl L-Glutathione is highly absorbable. If the main mode of benefits of NAC is to raise glutahione levels in the body,(and it sounds like it is) then S-Acetyl L-Glutathione may be much better than NAC, and at much lower doses.

S-Acetyl L-Glutathione is also supposed to be better than than the Liposomal form, too. I heard one doctor say that it rivals IV injection. Plus it has never had a drug background that the FDA can toy with.

Approach with due diligence research on all of the above.

Here is your post to Jane Long stating that NAC is available at Amazon which it is not. I may be wrong and will check again at Amazon but last time I looked it was no longer available.

so here is a review..no idea if true

“1.0 out of 5 stars NO RESEARCH STUDIES PROVE THAT IT BYPASSES DESTRUCTION IN THE STOMACH OR IS ABSORBED BETTER.
Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2020
Pubmed contains all biomedical reports published in all research journals in the world. If you search Pubmed for research studies on S-acetyl glutathione, 15 research reports are shown - but NONE of them studied the ability of S-acetyl glutathione to bypass destruction in the gastrointestinal tract; and NONE of those reports studied how well or poorly S-acetyl glutathione is absorbed.

Therefore, all websites about S-acetyl glutathione stating that it bypasses destruction in the stomach and is absorbed very effectively are making

FALSE CLAIMS!!

It is SNAKE OIL - no better than poorly absorbed regular glutathione.
NO RESEARCH STUDIES PROVE THAT IT BYPASSES DESTRUCTION IN THE STOMACH OR IS ABSORBED BETTER.”

Maybe the suppliers are running low because people are stocking up. But it isn’t much of a conspiracy if you can buy it at Walmart or dozens of other places.

I do not recommend relying on NAC/HCQ/Quercetin/D/C/Zinc to _prevent_ covid now that there is a proven preventative that works much better.

And, maybe you’re wrong, again.

Interesting that you call this a ‘conspiracy’....which sounds amazingly similar to what the lefty articles, about the recent spate of ‘conservative radio hosts’ deaths, all claim THEY believed, about these risky shots.

It’s a fact that Amazon no longer carries NAC...not a conspiracy.

And, speaking of proven preventatives, for china virus, it’s also a fact that our own FDA prevented KNOWN and effective treatments like HCQ and Ivermectin to be prescribed as treatment for china flu.

Of course YOU don’t recommend relying on proven preventatives like HCQ/Quercetin/C/D and Zinc (and, don’t forget Ivermectin). Curious, who are YOU to recommend, to anyone, to not rely on any preventative?

Meanwhile, there are PLENTY of FReepers who’ve reported great success with using exactly these items as both preventative and treatment, for china virus.

And, by ‘as a preventative that works much better’, I sure hope you’re not suggesting these risky shots. By “working better” do you mean life shortening clots and other adverse effects?

Along with their REPEATED and OFTEN boooooooooosters??

As you can see, you’re definitely in the minority, here, if so.

This is the cheapest that I have found per mg, especially on auto ship.

I checked again at Amazon and I happen to find one which came on very recently and is listed under AiWO supplement 600mg- 100 tabs for $ 43.99 which is about as bigger RIP OFF as they come. Where as you can get 500 grams which is about one pound for $ 35.75 or any other amount you like, either larger or smaller. Available from PureBulk Roseburg OR 97471 Tel. 888 230 0050 they are reliable, fast and reasonable. I am not surprised that AiWo charges what they do as it appears the demand for NAC may be on the increase due to its effectiveness as well as many benefits mostly unknown to the public and as you by now may have realized “The Powers to be” just don’t like anything to be sold what may be beneficial to the public.

I’m not wrong. I said NAC wasn’t on Amazon but available at Walmart and other stores. Maybe Amazon dropped it so anti-vaxxers like you would die. You could be right!

FDA shouldn’t have prevented HCQ and Ivermectin. They should have done many more studies about alternative treatments and why masking didn’t work.

The statistics are very clear about what works and doesn’t work.

Who am I to give opinions? Well, I’m just a guy who would rather have fewer conservatives dying needlessly. I’m pro-life that way.

Here is a story about a a 30 year old Texas gentleman who thought like you do— that Ivermectin and other home remedies would work. They don’t work reliably and there is a 95% or more chance he would be alive today if he took one of those “risky shots”. But you won’t believe it and will blame everything under the sun except the root cause of his death— not taking a simple vaccine.

https://www.sfgate.com/coronavirus/article/caleb-wallace-anti-mask-rally-death-covid-16419641.php

I understand you reject my opinions— that’s unfortunate but fine. I wish you well.

Sure....you ‘wish me well’, but then say something as sick as....’so anti-vaxxers like you would die’.

And, if you’d actually been keeping up, on the NUMEROUS threads, here, about these risky shots, you’d know that the large MAJORITY of FReepers, that you’re suggesting ‘would die’ are NOT anti-REAL vax.

In fact, most, like me, are fully vax’d....with traditional, long tested and safe vaccines.

And, you WERE wrong, when you said you could get NAC on Amazon. I called you out, on that, upthread.

So, saw off, sick and busted troll....and, take your leftist articles and FRAUDci talking points with you.
